He's coming ... he'll need to follow the light ...

We learn a lot from our past. There once was a time long ago that wasn't all so long ago at all, a time with which, in a way, sets us up for what is to come, this is a time from Colin's past that may go so way to paving the way forwards. It may go some way to ensure a future ...

The growing cackle of seagulls wasn't enough to wake him, nor was the brightness of the morning light, he was that exhausted. The night just gone has certainly taken it out of him. For this night just passed was the first of many all-nighters Colin would end up pulling not as if there are many at this point in his life, though his life as a whole ... well. The difference with this one, other than the fact it is the first of many, is the fact that Colin so happens to be just twelve years of age.

It was a new town with prospects of a new start for mother and son, and in many ways, it was a new start, the effects of which would be something that would stretch for years to come. Well, for the next four in the short term anyway and in other ways there will be lasting bonds and an understanding to begin, if not yet understood. Could it ever be understood? If any place will ever go on to be considered a hometown, then this place will be it.

You do not exist to serve though you could be the difference at the times when you do. The dead will get by just fine, whether you're around or not. There is, however, a storm coming. There may always be a storm coming. You are not the answer, but you could be the difference. Understand just what that is, and it will be there where the biggest impact will come. The little things can be as big as the moment which hits hardest ...

If you are all in, ... if you are ever going to be all in, then ... begin by bringing him home ...

The next place which so could be considered home has been left behind, and mother and son have been on the move since and they will settle in this new place, never to move again, for mum will see out her days ... as numbered as they are ... here. And in the town that was and will be again is where she will be laid to rest.

Twelve can be a difficult age. It is a time in life where all things magical can collide with all things with a base in reality, or of what is expected of reality. Childhood begins its transition into adulthood. A disbelief begins to rule where belief once existed, and difficulty soon overtakes a need for belief.

Coming to a new town ensures there is plenty around that could lead to hours of exploration, the most attractive of which so happens to be, what Colin believes to be, an ancient lighthouse. Apparently, it predates this prime sleek coastal town by so many decades. It is possible that it may have existed a hundred years before the town itself was ever a town.

It is so old, it may even have a life of its own. It may be the reason why a town exists here at all. In all honesty, a town was always destined to develop here one way or another. A life of its own, huh? Colin thought. Something so old should no longer be living if it ever was alive to begin with. But it is alive ... in more ways than one.

Having arrived in the town late in the day and having spied such a place of intrigue upon entry and still in transit, in truth, it could be seen from afar, Colin just had to explore it and he didn't want to have to wait but wait he would. Twelve-year-old individuals at times do get to do some exploring by themselves though generally not so late in the day as it is when an arrival is made.

This lighthouse, its appeal was magnificent, almost religiously so, it seemed to whisper his name, beckoning Colin to it. The whispers it harbours being such that he could actually hear a voice in his head, he just has not been able to fully consider all that is at this point in life, even with some experiences of the past. Imagination getting carried away with itself, it can be no more than that, can it?
