Amber was too busy daydreaming as the teacher spoke on about something on the basics of geometry and equations. She glanced at her quiz in front of her before looking around at everyone else who was busy working on completing their quiz while her's didn't even have her name on it causing her to purse her lips.
'Might as well write a zero on it now ' she thought to herself.
Amber stressfully ran her hand through her long black hair before grabbing her pen to at least write down her name. Amber Arkanna. She glanced up at the clock. Only a couple more minutes of class; then lunch and then History. Looking back down at the piece of paper she just jotted down numbers and circled a letter for the multiple-choice questions finishing just in time for the bell to ring. Stuffing her pen in her bag she slung it over her shoulder as she quickly turned in her paperwork and rushed into the hallway. She grabbed her phone from her back pocket and dug through her bag to fish out her ear buds. Amber walked through the crowd of students to her locker, spinning the combo lock to the right code she pulled it open to only stuff her bag into it and shut it just as she felt her stomach rumble.
"Time for lunch" she mumbled to herself.
Walking through the crowd she made her way to the busy lunch room; As always it was packed and there was a long line in front of the lunch ladies. She tends to block out the noises on her own but the music never hurt scrolling through her hundreds of songs till someone called out her name, turning she seen a young freshman behind her offering a small smile she lifted her hand in a hello gesture.
"Hey Rafael, I didn't know if you were going to show up for lunch".
Months ago she would eat lunch with a group but then one day they suddenly ditched lunch all together claiming they had errands to run every day at the same time, Amber never questioned it and ate lunch by herself.
"Sorry. Jack and Miko had something to do"
"Well, you are always welcomed at the Amber table. Speaking of Jack and Miko where are they?"
"They were with their...friends"
Amber could tell it was a lie but shrugged it off. When the line closed into the front of the lunch ladies she ordered the chicken nuggets, fries, and chocolate milk which by the way was such a weird combination no one seemed to question. She waited for Ralph who had a burger with fries and a white milk. Walking beside her little friend they sat at a circled table. Both Amber and Raf talked as they ate their food.
"Hey, Amber?" Raf looked up at her.
"Mhm?" She responded just as she plopped a chicken nugget into her mouth.
"You know you can hang out with me, Jack, and Miko still right?"
Amber chewed her food and swallowed before opening her mouth to speak.
"I don't like being around to many people. When it was just us four it was fine but now that you guys have a whole new group outside of school it seems to be too big of a group for me"
"I know. I think you will like hanging out with us still and I know they will too"
"Okay Raf. We can tomorrow" she bit down on another nugget.
"Tomorrow is Saturday. Hey, aren't you still washing cars?"
Before Amber could answer a girl teen plopped down besides Raf before a boy joined.
"You wash cars?" A female's voice asked In an excited tone.
"I-um" she paused "Um Yea why?"
"Well I think our cars could use a wash" Miko smiled.
