As we walked down the road towards his house, he asked me, "So what's your name?"
"Oh, my name is Alice." I said smiling.
"That name is so pretty, so are you." Jacob said blushing. I smiled. "So what school are you going to?"
"Green Field Middle School." I said. Jacob's face lit up.
"So am I! What grade are you going into?"
"Seventh." I said looking into his chocolaty brown eyes.
"So am I!" Jacob said. I noticed that he had blue braces and I grinned.
"Then I already have a friend I guess." I said as we walked up his driveway. His house was much larger than mine and much prettier. "You have such a huge house."
"I know right?" Jacob asked holding open the front door for me. As I stepped inside I instantly smelled something cooking and sighed.
"Mom I'm home!" Jacob shouted.
A woman came into the hallway they were standing in saying, "Oh good, could you help with-" but stopped when she saw me. "Oh, who is this?"
"This is Alice. She's new here." Jacob said.
"Hi, Mrs. Sartorius," I said shaking hands with Jacob's mom.
"Hello," she said, giving Jacob a knowing look. He rolled his eyes and motioned for me to follow him up the stairs.
We went into his room and I instantly recognized it from his vines. He sat down on his bed, motioning for me to sit too, and said, "So how do you like it?"
"It's a lot bigger than my room." I said looking around.
He smiled, his cheeks red. I bet mine were too.
"So where do you come from?" he asked me.
"I lived in New York but my mom and dad had to move here for my mom's job." I said.
"Oh, well I'm glad that you moved." he said flashing me a bright smile.
"So am I," I said. He started to lean in towards me just as his mom shouted something.
"Jacob, dinner's ready!" she said. Jacob groaned. "And your friend can stay if she likes!" His face brightened and he looked at me.
"Please stay!" he said excitedly. I smiled.
"I'll text my mom, but I'm sure I can stay." I said pulling out my phone. He pumped his fist in the air making me laugh.
Jacob and I walked downstairs just as my phone went off.
"My mom said I can stay!" I said reaching out for Jacob's wrist. As I touched him, shivers went up through my spine. I could tell the same happened to Jacob because the hairs on his arm stood up. I smiled and let go.
We all sat down around the table and Jacob talked about his personal life and other things. I had a great time.
After dinner, Jacob came up to me and asked, "Hey would you like to stay the night?"
