It was the first day of school! I wore a white crop top, jean shorts, and a red sweater around my waist. I curled my hair and looked at my reflection. I smiled and went down my stairs just as someone rang the doorbell. I opened the door to find Jacob in a blue sweater and khakis. He had a red rose in his hand and held it out to me.
"Aww, you shouldn't have!" I said taking the rose. He blushed, shrugging his shoulders.
"I thought that maybe you could put in your locker once we got to school."
"And that's exactly what I'll do!" I said. I grabbed my backpack and we walked to school.
After about 10 minutes of walking and talking, we finally arrived to the huge school. I saw a group of guys wave to Jacob. He waved back, looked at me, and slouched. I smiled.
"You can go over to them if you want." I said, even though I wanted him to stay here. His face brightened.
"Really? You'll be fine?" he asked.
"Ya, go!" I said. He jogged over to his friends, giving them each a different high five. I smiled, but then realized I was completely alone. I saw a girl with red hair approach me just as I sat down on a bench. She was really pretty and reminded me of my old friend.
"Hey!" she said sitting down next to me. I smiled. "My name is Becca. You are?"
"I'm Alice. I love your hair!" I said. She smiled back.
"Thanks! Your shirt is to die for!" she said laughing. I laughed too and we talked for a while until the bell rang. I stood up just as she grabbed my arm. "Hey, I'd love for you to sit with me and my friends at lunch. They'd love you and we'd love for you to be our friend!"
I nodded my head. More friends! "Sure! See you then."
I headed into the building and went to my locker. I found a blue sticky note on the front, so I read it. It said 'Turn around :) ' I turned around to see Jacob right behind me.
"My locker's right behind yours!" he said excitedly. I smiled.
"Awesome! Locker buddies!" I said. I turned back around to face my locker. I opened it up and put the rose Jacob gave me on the top shelf. I grabbed my books and headed for my first class. I was happy to see that Becca was in it. She sat next to me and we talked most of the class. My next class had Jacob and his friend Harry in it. We goofed around for most that class too. I don't think I made a very good first impression on most of my teachers. Then came lunch and I found Becca and her friends. I walked over to where she was standing. Becca beamed when she saw me. "Alice!"
"Guys, this is Alice!" Becca said introducing me. I waved at the other four girls. "Alice, this is Lauren, Megan, Hailey, and Veronica!"
"Hi!" I said waving. Lauren had blonde long hair, Megan short black hair, Hailey brown hair, and Veronica black long hair. They all looked nice and it seemed like I would get along with them pretty well. Just then Jacob walked into the cafeteria. He spotted me and walked towards me.
"Alice, how is your first day?" he asked me, his friends behind him snickering.
"Pretty good. I made new friends." I said motioning to Becca and the others.
"Hey Jacob." Becca said waving a bit. He smiled. His smile brightened as he turned back to me.
"You wanna sit next to the guys and I?" he asked me. I bit my lip, guilt sinking into my stomach. I should've known that Jacob might wanna sit with me.
"Um, well, Becca offered..." I said awkwardly. The smile faded off his face.
"Oh, that's fine." he said looking at his feet. "Well, I'll see you after school, right?" I nodded smiling, and his smile half came back. He and his friends left and I sat down.
"Did you hear about the dance?" Veronica asked.
"Dance?" I asked. Becca smiled.
"Ya they host one every beginning of the year. You better find someone to go with!" I smiled.
"I have an idea..." I said, my eyes drifting to Jacob's table.
