~Arrival in Rivendell~

The company made their way down the path leading to Rivendell. I could tell that Bilbo, Gandalf, and I were the only ones actually happy to be here. The dwarves all seemed to be on edge, as if they were waiting for an ambush.

Thorin was trying to be so careful with me as he carried me towards Rivendell. He was constantly asking me if I was okay. To be honest, it was slightly annoying. However, it warmed my heart to know that he cared.

As for my wound, I felt a twinge of pain run through it with every step Thorin took. I could feel my blood seeping through the bandages that Oin applied.

I was beginning to feel lightheaded, and I knew that I would not be able to stay conscious much longer.

We crossed a bridge that led to the front courtyard. We stopped when a dark-haired elf descended the stairs infront of us. I immediately recognized him.

"Mithrandir." The elf said as he reached the bottom of the stairs.

"Ah, Lindir!" Gandalf greeted the elf.

The dwarves shifted uneasily where they stood.

Thorin leaned towards Deakin and whispered, "Stay sharp."

I rolled my eyes with what little energy I had. I have Thorin a disdainful look. I would trust these elves with my life which, in the current situation, I was.

"Lastannem i athrannedh i Vruinen. (We heard that you had crossed into the Valley.)" Lindir said in elvish, knowing that the dwarves could not understand.

"I must speak with Lord Elrond." Gandalf said.

"My Lord Elrond is not here." Lindir replied.

"Not here? Where is he?" Gandalf asked.

At that moment, the elvish horns from earlier are heard again. We turned to see elvish warriors on horseback riding towards us at a fast rate. It would have been a scary sight to anyone, but not me. The dwarves however...

"Ifridî Bekâr! (Ready weapons!)" Thorin shouted, "Hold ranks!"

Thorin passed me to Dwalin and draws his sword. The dwarves formed a protective circle around me and Bilbo. Dwalin was in there too considering he was the one holding me.

Eventually the elves stopped circling us and one separated himself from the rest. He was a sight for sore eyes. It had not been that long since I had last seen him, but it felt like ages. It was Lord Elrond, and I was ever so happy to see him. I could not keep the tired smile off my face.

"Gandalf." Lord Elrond greeted the wizard first, ignoring the dwarves.

Gandalf bowed gracefully, which is not something I can picture him doing.

"Lord Elrond. Mellonnen! Mo evínedh? (My friend! Where have you been?)" The wizard asked.

"Farannem 'lamhoth i udul o charad. Dagannem rim na Iant Vedui. (We've been hunting a pack of Orcs that came up from the South. We slew a number near the Hidden Pass.)" Elrond replied.

He kept eyeing Gandalf and the dwarves knowingly, but I think I was the only one that saw him do it. Elrond dismounted his horse and pulled Gandalf in for a friendly hug.

"Strange for Orcs to come so close to our borders. Something, or someone, has drawn them near." Elrond said suspiciously.

He held up an orcish sword before handing it to Lindir, who accepted it with a disgusted look on his face.

"Ah, that may have been us." Gandalf said, motioning to the dwarves. Thorin picked that moment to step forward. Elrond looked at him with recognition.

"Thorin, son of Thrain." Elrond stated in greeting.

"I do not believe we have met." Thorin said.

"You have your grandfather's bearing. I knew Thror when he ruled under the Mountain." Elrond replied.

"Indeed; he made no mention of you." Thorin said with malconent.

I could not believe that he insulted the man that has been like a second father to me. I would have to apologize to Elrond once I was better.

Elrond chose to ignore the blatant insult. "Nartho i noer, toltho i viruvor. Boe i annam vann a nethail vin." (Light the fires, bring forth the wine. We must feed our guests.)" He said in elvish with complete disregard to the dwarves.

Of course, they took it the wrong way. If they had known elvish than they would have understood.

Gloin was the one that spoke up. "What is he saying? Does he offer us insult?" The dwarves shifted around, gripping their weapons.

Gandalf sighs exasperated. "No, master Gloin, he is offering you food." He corrected.

The dwarves seemed pleased with his answer. They lowered their weapons happy at the prospect of food. I rolled my eyes tiredly. I tried to shift around in Dwalin's grip, hoping to get more comfortable. A gasp of pain escaped as my injured side hit his arm. Everyone turned their gaze to look at me.

"Edin?!" Elrond asked, looking rather concerned.

"Hello again, my friend." I managed to say.

"What happened, my dear?" He asked, worry mixing with the concern.

I could not muster up the energy to answer him again. Thankfully, Gandalf answered for me. "She was thrown into a tree by a troll and shot by an orc arrow. Can you heal help her? Her wings were injured in the troll incident." He told Lord Elrond everything.

"Of course. I could do nothing less." Elrond replied. He motioned for an elf to take me from Dwalin. The dwarves did not like this one bit. They, once again, gripped their weapons in a threatening manner. The elf slowly backed off. It was heartwarming to see them all so protective of me, even if it wasn't necessary.

"Dwalin will accompany you." Thorin said, leaving no room for argument.

"Very well." Elrond agreed. He motion for Dwalin to follow him to the healing chambers.

I don't know when, but must have finally fallen asleep. The last thing I remember is Thorin's worried expression as I was carried away.

~A/N~

I am so sorry that this took me so long to update. You guys have no idea how much I wanted to. I just never have the time. I graduated high school in may, and now I'm working full-time. To top it off, there was a death in my family very recently. I have been very depressed about all of this. No one in my family or group of friends know this. I don't even know why I'm telling you all of this. It's just nice to talk to someone about it I guess. I know this is all just excuses to some of you, but this is serious. I really am sorry, everyone. I could really use your support right now.

As always, thank you for everything, my bunnies.
