Mya's POV
Part of me felt incredible, and part of me questioned my sanity. My heart still hadn't calmed down. My blood flowed through my body so fast that it was almost making me lightheaded.
Linc raised my hand to his mouth and pressed his warm lips to my third finger, which now had two rings. His fingers played with the rings mindlessly, holding our arms up on the center console of the truck rather than resting them on it. It was as if he were holding a trophy.
"This is crazy," I said softly.
He smirked at me. "It was your idea, Momma."
I sighed. "I know."
"It's a little too late for cold feet. You should've bolted before you made it to the altar," he teased.
I laughed and shook my head. "Mm, no. Not cold feet. Not really."
"Really?" he asked in disbelief.
"I'm a little nervous about what people are going to say. I mean, we left the girls at Bryant and Kelly's house in the middle of the night, and didn't even tell them why, but that we would be back tomorrow," I said and laughed.
The sun sank low into the sky. Linc squinted out the windshield. The sun shone with such intensity that it made it hard to see the road. I opened the glove box and grabbed his sunglasses. Instead of dropping our hands, he grabbed them with his left hand. The ring matched mine; it had red and white diamonds around the band. My ring had two red heart-shaped diamonds with three white diamonds on each side in a silver band.
Linc glanced at his ring and back out the windshield.
"So?" I asked and smirked. "How does it feel to be a married man?"
He lowered his glasses on his nose to look at me, and he smirked. "It feels incredible, Momma."
I laughed. "Good answer." I leaned over the center console and kissed him. Linc had asked me if I wanted a big wedding. It could've been fun. I didn't have a big wedding with Damen. One day, maybe we would renew our vows, or maybe we could have a celebration back home, but the truth is, the more I thought about marrying Linc, the more excited I got.
Linc took me into the bedroom, but before he could undress me, I told him we should elope. When he asked me how soon, I told him right now, so we did. We pulled the girls from their bed. Told Bryant and Kelly we needed them to watch the girls, and they agreed. We drove straight to Vegas, stayed over in a hotel, and got married the next afternoon.
"Let's get through the move before we tell anyone," I suggested.
Linc pursed his lips and nodded. "That's probably a good idea, but I'm not taking my ring off."
"You'd better never take it off," I muttered.
He chuckled. "We never talked about which house."
"That's because you already chose which one," I said and snorted.
"That's not true," he said. "I admit, I want the big one, but I want you to be happy with the decision."
"I loved the first house we saw," I said. "The five-bedroom wasn't too bad either."
"It wasn't as close to the beach."
"The back deck on the first house was beautiful. I loved how it was three levels. I'm a little worried about the kids being able to get such easy access to the ocean, though," I admitted.
"We could put up a fence," he said. "I figured we would let the boys have the basement."
"I figured the same. I'm sure Darren will love sneaking out in a couple of years. Totally easy for him to do so," I teased.
