9. Burgers

Michael finished his last class of the day and practically ran out to the school gates. A huge grin crept on his face when he saw Maddie.

"Ready to go?" Michael asked.

Maddie smiled and nodded. She looped her arm with his and walked to her car with him.

Michael got in the passenger seat and buckled up, followed by Maddie doing the same and starting the car. It let out a sputtering grunt and a puff of smoke.

Groaning and swearing under her breath, Maddie got out and walked to the front of the car.

Michael followed behind. "What happened?"

"This old damn car doesn't wanna start today" Maddie sighed, popping open the hood.

Michael watched her. "Do you need any help?" He asked, even through he didn't know the first thing about cars.

Maddie shrugged. "If you want. This happens a lot though so I'll just get the tools" she walked off to the and opened the door to the backseat, coming back with a wrench.

She walked back around to where Michael and saw him looking around trying to find out what was wrong, his tongue sticking out in concentration.

Maddie chuckled and walked beside him, starting to fix the car. "Can you start the car" she asked, handing him the keys.

Michael nodded and walked to the front seat, putting the key in the ignition. He crossed his fingers and after a couple of tries, the car started. He grinned widely as All Time Low played quietly through the speakers.

After closing the hood, Maddie walked to the front seat and got in as Michael got out and walked to the passenger side.

"Nice taste in music" he said, singing along quietly to therapy. "Thanks" she said, smiling when hearing him sing.

A few minutes later, Maddie pulled up to a burger joint and got out with Michael. "This place is so good. You have to try their bacon cheeseburger" (deeeean) Maddie said.

Michael nodded and walked in with her, being greeted by a bell at the door and the smell of French fries and burgers, one of his favorites next to pizza.

The restaurant was nearly empty except for a couple in their early thirties, a college girl with a few of her sorority friends giggling at everything said, and Michael and Maddie.

They found a booth near a window and sat down, soon later ordering two bacon cheeseburgers and fries.

Michael didn't like silence, even if it was for a few minutes and spoke up. "So what are your plans for the summer?" He asked, since school would be over in about a week.

"Stay at home, sleep in, play video games" she said chuckling. "What about you?"

Michael smiled. This girl was basically a girl version of him. "Same thing. And eat an huge amount of junk food" he said laughing a little.

Their food came a few minutes later and they both started eating. Michael heard the bell on the door ring and looked up to see who came in.

Luke decided just to ditch the last class after his talk with Maddie and went to a mall not to far from school.

At the mall, he pulled out his phone and called Ashton, seeing if he would want to meet him there since he had about zero people to hang out with.

After three rings, Aston picked up. "Hello?"

Luke smiled a little. "Hey it's Luke. I was wondering if you wanted to meet up at the mall." He said, chewing on his bottom lip.

"Yea sure! See you in about ten"

Luke nodded, even though Ashton couldn't see him. "See so soon" he said before hanging up.

He decided to walk around while waiting for Ashton. Luke mentally groaned when seeing a couple nearly sucking each others faces off going up the escalator. Couldn't they find another place to make out?

A few minutes later he felt his phone vibrate and checked seeing it was a text from Ashton.

» From Ashton:
Just arrived at the mall. Wanna meet up in hot topic?

» From Luke:
Sure sounds good

Luke walked in hot topic, bopping his head slightly to the music playing. He was greeted by Ashton a little later and they walked around looking at band tees together.

A while later the each picked two. Luke with a Pierce the Veil and Black Veil Brides and Ashton with a Falling in Reverse and Blink 182.

"Glad to see we have the same taste in music" Ashton said as they were paying.

Luke nodded and smiled. "Same here" he stated. "Wanna get something to eat?"

Ashton nodded. "Do you wanna get some burgers?" He asked and Luke nodded. They walked back out to and the parking lot and got in their cars.

"There's this really good restaurant I've been to a few times. Just follow me and I'll show you the way" Luke said.

Luke and Ashton arrived at a small burger joint with a few cars parked in the parking lot, showing it wasn't packed. They both walked in, hearing a bell as the door opened.

Luke looked around to see who was all there. There was a couple who looked like they were in there early thirties and some girls who were obviously in a college sorority since they had their school logos on nearly everything they had.

Luke wished he didn't see Michael and Maddie together and quickly pinched himself to see if it was true. After feeling the sting on his arm he sighed and saw Michael looking at him.

Ash and him found a booth a little too close, in Luke's opinion, to Michael and Maddie. They ordered their food and drinks a while later while Luke kept stealing glances at Maddie.

She looked up and saw him. Smiling she waved at him, causing Luke to blush and wave back.

Michael looked up at the two. He quickly noticed Luke must've liked her, and he hated it.

A/N: this chapter ( besides the authors note ) is exactly 1000 words. whoo! AND I'M SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING IN LIKE FOREVER I WAS ON VACATION IN PIGOEN FORGE TENNESSE AND I MET A BOY!!!

He looks just like Shawn Mendes and his name is Sean lol. My dad pulled him over to our table we were at at the pool and we talked for about 15 minutes AND HE WAS CHECKING ME OUT IT WAS SO WEIRD BUT I FELT SPECIAL.

He found out I was 4 years younger than him and didn't care we've been texting each other lol. I went to a wax museum and it was so cool until I had a panic attack bc we were on the roof. Then I went to this mirror maze, 5d video game and a zombie horror house that was scary shit.

Buuut yea I had a lot of fun and I'm soo so so sorry for not responding.

QUESTION TIME: When do start school? I start the 24 and u don't wanna go
