To Jaebum's luck, she approached him again. He looked into another direction as she was coming towards him, as if he hadn't noticed her yet.
"Been waiting for me, huh?" You joked with a grin on your face after you saw him still there. "If the DJ did a better job I wouldn't be here anymore" He replied without even looking at you. After ordering a new drink, you tried to find out more about him.
Jaebum was acting as if he had no interest in her because he didn't want to let her know that he had. So he answered her questions only in a few words, barely asking anything about her. They did exchange names and hobbies but she was giving up rater quickly which worried him a little bit, since he wanted to have her interest.
"Well if you don't want to talk to me, just say it, Jaebum" The way you empathized his name showed how tired you were of his attitude towards you. Why did he approach you in the first place if he would act like this then? You decided to enter the dance floor again but not after downing what was left in your glass to endure the work of the DJ better. And without a word you left him sitting at the bar.
It was getting late so the floor was slowly getting emptier. You made your way to the center and just started to dance. The effect of the alcohol was getting more prominent in your blood with every minute but you still knew what you did. Everything just seemed to be a little more enjoyable and funny than it would be sober and you found yourself caring less.
Normally, Jaebum wasn't the type to go after women, since they always went after him, but she was a different case. In most cases, they would totally go for the 'not interested' attitude he naturally had when meeting someone new but she just didn't. And that's what made him even more interested in her. So he got up with a sigh and started to search for her. His eyes were really good so it was not a real problem for him and just moments later he found her dancing in the crowd.
The way she swayed her hips from side to side made him want to approach her and dance with her. She said that she liked to dance too but he hadn't believed her at first, he had thought that she just said that to make her more likeable for him but that wasn't the truth at all. While a lot of other women just kinda went around the dance floor without really dancing and if they did, it was really bad, she clearly stood out and it didn't seem as if she was afraid to hide her skills.
Without another thought he danced his way towards her.
"You really can dance" You twitched as you heard the words rather near to your ear but as you turned around and realized from who they came from you put on your poker face. Why was he suddenly here again if he had no interest? You just shrugged it off and continued to dance as if he wasn't there, even though you felt his presence strongly.
You didn't know how long you had danced but as the effect of the alcohol was slowly vanishing again, your sweat made its way down your spine and your legs from the pain in the heels cried, you decided to call it a night. To your surprise, Jaebum was still near you, he was dancing with his friends, you figured.
Jaebum was enjoying himself while keeping an eye on her every now and then. His friends joined him some time ago and the DJ seemed to get better too. But suddenly his target was leaving the dance floor towards the exit and he had the urge to follow her. Should he? He shot his friends a glance and they nodded, knowing exactly what he meant.
The cold air hit your bare skin as you left the loud place. You didn't know what time it was but it seemed to be really late since the streets were almost empty. You searched your purse for some money to take a cab but unfortunately, you didn't have enough so you had no choice but to walk home. With your hands tight around your arms to keep yourself warm, you quickly went along the streets.
Not far away from the club you just left, you had a feeling that someone was following you and just seconds later you felt a cold hand on your shoulder. It caught you totally off guard so you let out a scream and jumped back. Jaebum was standing in front of you. "You scared me!" You told him angrily. "Are you following me?" You then asked and he quickly shook his head.
He had to come up with an excuse since he did indeed follow her. "No, no. We were leaving too but then I saw that you were alone. You know, it's dangerous outside this late at night" He lied and hoped she would believe him but before she could answer, he suggested to walk her home. "I think I'm good alone" She disagreed and started to walk again. Jaebum didn't know what to do, she seemed to be really stubborn. He couldn't follow her until she was home because then she would think he was a real creep. He caught up with her and offered her some money to take a cab.
"Why are you caring so much about my safety?" You didn't like to take money from strangers so you refused at first. "Would you like it better if I didn't?" You had no answer to that so you just looked at the ground embarrassed. It felt rather good to have someone caring about you since the dark streets were kinda frightening but that he knew you enjoyed it was embarrassing. So you took the money out of his hands and thanked him. "But how should I return it to you?" You didn't exchange phone numbers so you would most likely never see him again. "Tomorrow, 3pm, at the café near the club" He just said while calling a cab. Your eyes widened. This sounded more like a rendezvous than a simple meeting to give him back his money. Maybe he did have some interest in you, more than just making sure that you got home safely.
Jaebum didn't think it would be that easy to see her again, but seeing the money as an opportunity, he immediately took it. It didn't take long for a cab to drive by but until then, there were no exchanged words between him and her. Was this too straight forward? He didn't have a chance to think about it any further since she already got into the cab. "See you tomorrow then" She said before closing the door. He nodded and waved at her before the car drove off.
He stood there for a few more moments to savor the moment then his friends came running towards him. "Did she leave you?" They curiously wanted to know and he explained that he just wanted her to get home safely, nothing more. Mark and Jackson started laughing since they weren't used to such a behavior from their friend, who was normally more like a playboy. "Let's head home" Jaebum suggested.
