Jaebum wasn't able to concentrate on the movie at all. Too many thoughts were rushing through his mind. Did she even find his message? And if she did, would she come? He really hoped she would.
Walking up and down in your living room, you were thinking about tonight. He was almost a complete stranger, so why should you go? Besides, it would be really dark already and also, there wouldn't be a lot of people so if he had bad intentions this was the perfect place. He didn't come off as that type of person but you can never be sure, right? Still, you were curious why he wanted to meet you again and why he was in such a rush earlier today. Since you still had a lot of time to think about it, you decided to do that later but watch a drama instead to calm yourself down.
"Guys I'm going out for a walk. See you later!" Jaebum announced and left before his roommates could protest. He just hoped they wouldn't follow him but knowing how lazy they were, they would most likely not do that.
It was rather cold outside since the sun had already set. Good thing he took a warm jacket with him. Strolling along the streets, he admired the night sky. He was always more of a night person than a day one, typical for his type.
"Kakao Talk!" Obama announced through your phone. You got a message. It woke you up from your slumber, you must've fallen asleep some time during the show. Your friend Ami asked how you were doing and after you'd answered her, you took a short glance at the clock. 8:45pm. Fuck. In an instant, you threw the blanket away and ran upstairs into the bedroom.
Earlier, you came to the conclusion that you would just go and see what he wanted, but not without protection, so you took a pepper spray with you, just in case.
It was just minutes before 9pm as you left your apartment. Good thing that the park wasn't too far away from where you lived, so you made it there just in time. Coughing, you came to a halt near a bench. With your hands on your knees, supporting your exhausted self, you looked around for someone familiar. You had to run of course to prevent coming too late.
He was a little early so he decided to take a seat on a bench near the entrance to admire the night sky. It was a clear night so he could see a lot of stars and of course the big bright moon. A few minutes had passed until he heard someone running into the park and soon after that coughing like this person had just ran a marathon. He turned around to look at the source of the noises and it was her. He took a moment to look at her exhausted self, giggling to himself because of how cute she looked, before he went over.
"Hey" You let out a scream and jumped around, ready to take out the pepper spray but as you noticed who it was, you let out a sigh. "Why do you have to scare me all the time?" You whined and Jaebum shot you a smile. "Did you run here?" He then asked. "I fell asleep and almost didn't make it in time" You explained and let yourself plop onto the bench beside you. He took a seat right next to you. "You know, it wouldn't have been a problem if you had been a little late, but I'm glad you came" You felt your cheeks heating up, you were flattered but also annoyed at how fast he could change his attitude. "Why are you like this all of a sudden? Yesterday in the club you didn't seem to be interested at all but later you suddenly cared for me! Also earlier you were distant again, not even staying for long but now you're totally different again! Can't you decide?" You finally wanted to know what he was up to so you just let out your thoughts.
He had to tell her, but wasn't it too soon still? He barely knew her, let alone knew if she had interest in him. He didn't even know if he could trust her. Then he had to come up with another excuse. But lying also felt wrong... If she told anyone of this he would have to leave again and he really enjoyed living here with his friends. So not only he was depending on this secret but also his friends and it was too soon to risk it for a girl. He had to come up with something else.
"Hello? Earth to Jaebum! Are you still there?" You snapped your fingers in front of his face after he didn't answer for some time. Then, all of a sudden, you heard some rustling from a bush near by. Jaebum's eyes shot open and he dragged you behind some trees. You didn't understand, it could've just been some animal, why was he acting so strange now? He put his finger to his lips, mentioning you to stay quiet. Not knowing what was going on, you just obeyed.
The rustling got louder and after some time you could see two people standing in front of said bush. At first, it was hard to figure out who they were but squinting your eyes, you could recognize one. He looked strangely familiar... He looked like one of Jaebum's friends, the ones he was at the club with.
His eyes widened as he recognized Jackson standing there with someone. "What was he doing there?" He angrily thought. The other person was a complete stranger to him though. These two seemed to argue about something but Jaebum couldn't quite make out about what, it seemed to get more intense with every second gone by. His friend seemed to be in danger so he decided that he couldn't just hide and watch it but he should do something about it.
He motioned her to stay there, while he would go over. He would've loved to have her at a safe place but there was no time left, seeing Jackson getting hit.
You watched Jaebum going over there, maybe he was trying to solve the fight since it was one of his friends, but why did you have to stay there? It didn't look too dangerous.
At first, he seemed to get the situation under control easily, but then the stranger threw a punch right at his jaw. Jaebum fell to the ground, caught off guard but his friend was quick to protect him until he got onto his feet again. Should you chime in? Probably not, you were too weak.
The fight looked like a normal fight between guys until the unknown man at first took out Jaebum's friend, then tackled him and bit him? Your eyes went wide. What was going on?
Your body acted before you could think and so you ran towards them. "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" You screamed and everyone's eyes were on you. The stranger, still on top of Jaebum with blood smeared all over his mouth, tiled his head at you. "NO! Go away!" Jaebum told you but out of instinct, you grabbed the pepper spray. The man was now coming for you and you felt the adrenaline pumping through your body. He had you pinned to the ground in a second. You saw his red eyes, nothing you had ever seen before. He looked like a real monster but because you were in such a rushed state, you just tried to blind him with your spray. It seemed to work after a while, seeing him falling back, screaming, with his fingers rubbing his eyes. Jaebum's friend seemed to have recovered as he hit the man with a piece of wood directly into the face. Blood was spilling out of his skull and you slowly felt yourself losing consciousness.
