#81 I Know (Part One)

Ok so this one actually came second in the poll but I was already writing a lot of it and it's going to be a two parter so idc you're getting this one first 🙂‍↕️

Description: James is having a lil bi crisis because Reg doesn't know how to not be attractive even when he's "not interested". Sirius clocks James' fruity side before James does and is willing to help him out (IN A HELP HIM GET A DATE WAY NOT IN A FUCK HIM TYPE OF WAY HES NOT BARTY&EVAN)

James sat with his friends in the library, the girls sat near, Marlene having a laugh as Sirius did his usual teasing of all of them despite everyone knowing he only wanted Remus. James would usually be making his own comments as well, usually towards Lily Evans, but this afternoon his mind seemed to be occupied elsewhere.

James' eyes shifted past the girls and over to where he could spot a group of Slytherins studying, well, most of them (*cough* RoseKiller *cough*). James was more in a daydream state so he didn't notice when Dorcas lightly nudged Regulus to look up from his parchment.

Regulus felt a nudge in his side and didn't look up but lent his head over to hear what Dorcas was telling him, "look up at the Gryffindors" she whispered. Regulus rolled his eyes, "I have no interest in seeing my brother pathetically flirt Dorcas" but she shook her head in response so Regulus, reluctantly, decided to see what she was staring at, well it seemed now to be more who rather than what.

Regulus just hummed as he watched James stare at him, lightly smiling and clearly not noticing his glasses which were slowly falling off. Regulus tilted his head, staring at James with a neutral expression and seeing how long his little trance would last for before he snapped out of it.

James had no idea how long he'd been staring for when Pete elbowed him, "ouch", but James quickly followed that with, "thanks", when he noticed Sirius had been trying to talk to him and Dorcas was now smiling with a raised eyebrow.

"Oi Prongs are you even listening to me?"

James quickly blinked and looked up at Sirius with a nod, one clearly showing he had in fact not been listening. Sirius stared at James unconvinced, "alright what did I just say then?"

James tried to think of something that would change the subject as quickly as possible, "your usual rants about Remus, how the bastard won't let you marry him and so on and so forth"

Remus scoffed and Sirius sat back completely flustered as the girls began laughing and making it their turn to tease Sirius instead. Sirius looked backwards and noticed Barty and Evan laughing as well, his brother had his head down at his parchment but Sirius could've sworn he saw Regulus smile.

"Sod off! The lot of you" Sirius laughed lightly but shooed them all away and turned to Remus, who just looked at him smugly not denying anything but not agreeing to anything either.

James was laughing along at what he'd started, that was until the librarian came along and told them all to keep quiet,

"You should all be studying for your exams rather than mucking about. If you wish to create such nonsense, I'm looking at you Mr Potter and Mr Black, then perhaps you should consider taking it out into the courtyard instead." Sirius and James both nodded with a grin.

The librarian paused before looking at the Slytherins nearby, "Mr Crouch and Mr Rosier, I hope you know that applies to the both of you as well." She looked down from her glasses, almost smiling, when the two nodded with a "of course ma'am".
