#80 James vs Sirius

Just something short and silly 🙃

"Remus"

"Afternoon Regulus" Remus was sitting in the library, reading his favourite book and sipping a cup of tea that had floating rose petals in it.

"I just watched a black dog chase a stag through the great hall that had a rat in its antlers, the rat was laughing"

"Interesting" Remus didn't look up from his book,

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you?" Regulus frowned when he saw Remus look up with an amused expression,

"James and Sirius were arguing earlier, like usual" Remus stated, Regulus nodding in agreement at how that wasn't out of the ordinary for the two, but that wasn't the part that got Remus trying to hold back his laugh,

"During this rather heated conversation James said, and I quote, "careful Padfoot keep talking like that and I just might fuck around and make you my brother in law"...you can imagine how that went down with Sirius"

Regulus rubbed his temples and sat down next to Remus, sighing at the stupidity of his boyfriend and the lack of impulse control of his brother. Remus laughed lightly and handed his tea over to Regulus who scoffed and took a sip, instantly feeling calmer though.

Regulus handed the tea cup back to Remus, Remus passing him another book he had planned on reading afterward the current one, and they sat together peacefully. The two had just gotten comfortable when they suddenly saw James running for dear (more like DEER *knee slap*) heavenly life as Sirius hunted behind him at an, almost impressively, fast pace.

"Should we do something?" Regulus said, somewhat concerned now, "god they're going to knock each other out. We should go help" Regulus added again, closing his book reluctantly.

"No wait, I want to see who wins" Remus lent forward smiling, gesturing for Regulus to sit. That was until they heard James scream and Sirius curse as there was a loud thud and clashing of what sounded like glass.

Regulus and Remus got up and walked around the corner to make sure their boyfriends were okay, to their surprise they were not the only ones there.

McGonagal held the boys by an ear each and dragged them down the halls towards her office. Through protests, Remus and Regulus heard McGonagal say, "act like a child, get treated like a child"

"Minnie it wasn't my fault!"

"Professor it was a simple misunderstanding- ouch! You didn't need to pinch harder" James rubbed the side of his face as McGonagal let them both go, the two staring at Pete distastefully as he just stood next to them laughing, having transformed back after James reverted back into his human form.

"I trust you are both old enough to walk yourselves to my office, Mr Pettigrew that includes you, and that I don't need to carry you there like children as well?"

The three nodded at the ground before walking, McGonagal sighing as she watched them continue to elbow each other on their way up the stairs. She turned around and saw Remus and Regulus staring at their boyfriends (plus Pete) and then at her.

"You two wouldn't happen to know anything about this would you? Mr Black seemed rather distraught and said "James had it coming" which was then muffled by a series of words I shan't repeat"

"Sorry Professor I wish I could explain their behaviour to you, but even after all these years I'm still at a loss for words" Remus shrugged, clasping his hands together and giving her a sympathetic smile that was utterly fake but both Remus and Regulus smiled at each other when they saw a small tug at McGonagal's lips before she spoke.

"Yes, well I could say the same to the two of you if I don't see you get back to work"

"Yes ma'am" Regulus and Remus said in sync with a smile, heading back into the library to continue their study session.

Meanwhile in McGonagal's office...

"Brother in law? Really James? You could've picked literally anyone! What happened to Evans?" Sirius smacked the back of James' head, who punched him back, admitting he shouldn't have hid how serious (more like sirius HA HA) his and Regulus' relationship actually was, but also saying in his defence it was none of Sirius' business.

"You really didn't know Sirius?" Pete asked, with some genuine shock as Sirius usually hyper fixated on Regulus if anyone tried flirting with him because "no one's good enough for my baby brother". Pete thought back to the quidditch match that had only happened yesterday, "they literally kissed each other on the pitch during the match yesterday...you were there!"

"SHUT UP PETE I SHOULD BE TOLD THESE THINGS!" Sirius stood up, slamming his hands on the table but Pete and James didn't flinch, rather looking at each other with amused expressions. Sirius looked between the two, "OH THIS IS UTTER BETRAYAL BY BOTH OF YOU! JAMES YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME YOU WERE SLEEPING WITH MY BROTHER AND WORMY YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE AS MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT! WHERES MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT?!"

"That's not my job Pads, Remus emotionally supports you by existing and I simply translate common sense for you and help pull of pranks that require stealth every now and again."

"Also I'm not sleeping with Regulus." James said quietly, "we have a very loving relationship that we built on patience and trust. I'm not using him, I genuinely am in love."

Sirius stayed quiet a moment, looking to Pete who nodded in agreement, Sirius sighed and sat back down, "I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to be with him. At least I know you'll treat him right."

"Thank you Sirius."

Sirius hummed in response as they all sat in silence, "still wish you'd told me" he grumbled under his breath, loud enough James heard it though.

"ALRIGHT THATS IT IMMA FUCK YOUR BROTHER AND THERE AIN'T NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT" James left the room, flipping Sirius off as he exited with Pete already in stitches as he watched James crash out and then run as Sirius began throwing hexes down the hall. "YOU BROTHERFUCKER GET BACK HERE JAMES I SWEAR TO GOD IM GOING TO KILL YOU"
