Cody was at the doctor's sitting patiently in the waiting room.

He was tapping his fingers anxiously on his legs.

Someone suddenly walks in and sits next to him. He looks over and they make eye contact. They both lean in hesitantly and sniff each other.

There was a silent understanding between them.

"Hi, I'm Cody!" He greeted excitedly.

"Eva." She said simply.

That name sounded familiar but he shrugged it off.

"It's been a long time since I've spoken to someone else like me!"

"What about your pack?"

"I... don't really have one."

She didn't say anything after that.

"Uh, because I left!" He lied quickly.

"Why would you do that?"

Cody laughed nervously. "I... I, uh..."

She narrowed her eyes at him. "Did you fight with your dad?"

"Yeah, basically..."

"That sucks." She said casually.

"Yeah... but, hey, you're in a pack, right? Can I visit? I just... I really wanna meet others..."

"You know how weird that sounds, right?"

"I promise I don't have any bad intentions!"

"I believe you." She shrugged.

Cody smiled widely.

...

Eva led Cody to a forest somewhere.

After a while of walking, Cody sees her pack and smiles excitedly.

He lets out a loud, excited howl.

All the wolves join in on the howl.

"This is so amazing..." Cody said to himself before wolfing up. He becomes furrier and his ears change to wolf ears. His nose and mouth morph to form a snout and his hands grow claws.

He goes around greeting everyone and sniffing them happily.

"He came with you?" Eva's mother asks her.

"Yeah." Eva answered simply.

"Hm. I knew that was just a phase."

"He's not my boyfriend." Eva told her mom right away. "He's just some lone wolf who wanted to make some friends."

Her mom sighs in annoyance. "Get to know him, will you? It would do you some good to get to know a wolf. Or just a man, really."

Eva simply rolled her eyes.

Cody spent hours playing and talking with her pack.

"What an energetic pup you are, Cody!" Eva's mom said.

Cody grinned at the praise.

"Eva told me you're a lone wolf... you know you could always join our pack."

"I can??"

"Sure... if you marry into it."

"Oh... thanks, but I'm not interested. I'm actually in love with a human." He told them plainly.

"Human..?" Eva's mother repeated in disgust.

"But I really appreciate you letting me stay here today. I had a blast! I haven't been around other wolves since I was a kid..."
