"Hey Zo! Sleep well? I know I did. All that scratching and shadow stuff last night was bull." Nyx exclaimed happily.

"Why are you so happy so early in the morning?" I asked sleepily through eye crust.

"I am always this happy in the morning, silly!" She teased back.

"Whatevs. And I have something to tell you about that shadow." Why am I doing this?

"I was just scared. It's fine."

"No, it's not about that. Earlier this morning I woke up and I heard the scratching noises again." I tried to not make it obvious that I was freaked out.

"You were probably just paranoid."

"No." I spoke with my temper under control but my voice was firm."the sun was just rising and I looked out the window." I paused, looking into Nyx's eyes. "I saw that same shadow." Nyx's eyes got huge. Like golf ball huge.

"Lies." That was all she said then she corrected herself, "No your not lying, because you are a terrible liar."

"Thanks. I think. Anyways it creeped me out. I think we need to keep an eye out. I'm serious."

" 'Kay. Anyways Matt called me a few minutes ago. And I told him what happened last night."

"And? What did he say? Was he the one? Did he experience it too?" Oh great, the game of 20 Questions.

"He said that we were crazy and it wasn't him. Oh, and to never call him so late ever again." The last part made her smile and laugh to herself. I also had to laugh because we're best friends. She laughs, I laugh. It's just common sense.

"I'm hungry. Get. Me. Food." I told her sternly. Then broke out into laughter because my stern voice sounds like a man.

The rest of the day was normal, no shadows, no figures, and no scratching noises.
