Ever since the funeral, my mom has been a wreck. She stopped doing everything! All she did was stay in her room and cry. So, I had to pick up where she left off. Cleaning and cooking, ugh. It was Saturday and almost 9 pm. I was folding some blankets in the living room, when our neighbors porch light went on. Odd. Last I heard they got kicked out because they couldn't pay the bills. I was looking for a sign of anyone. I didn't see anyone, but I did see the shadow.

He was standing on the abandoned porch, looking straight at me. I quickly shut the window, closed the curtains, locked all of the house windows and doors, and got the 22 gauge rifle from the cabinet. I loaded it and sat in the middle of the living room floor. My heart was thumping really loudly. It was so quiet in the house, I could hear my mom's soft sobs from down the hallway.

All of a sudden there was a soft knock on the door. Followed by, "I killed your father, girl, and your mom is next."
