Chapter 19

"Your dad's been coming around a lot lately." Jace spoke as she began to pull the comforter down the bed. Her gaze shifted from the bed towards Marley when the werewolf let out a low grumble.

"He never knows when to back off. You'd think he was a werebull with how stubborn he is." Marley huffed as she hopped onto the bed and laid herself out on her back, her shirt having ridden up and displayed a sliver of her stomach. Jace's tongue poked out to wet her lips at the sight for a second before she shook her head back into the conversation.

"When's the last time you visited your pack, anyways?" Jace questioned as she gave Marley a light pat on her thigh, the wolf scooching over to her side of the bed, before she laid down beside her. Jace easily pulled the comforter over them as Marley snuggled into her side with a soft rumble.

"A while, I guess. I had to make sure no-one tried to get your attention first. And then Ronan came and making sure that she knew she was safe became more important." Marley answered as she wrapped an arm around Jace's waist, her warm hand sneaking under the blonde's sleep shirt and lightly scratched as tanned, scarred skin.

"...Why?"

"I think your dad just misses you is all. You are his youngest and all that." Jace murmured as she placed a hand under her pillow, her other arm wrapping around Marley. Her eyes slipped closed as Marley's head rested against her chest, the wolf's own eyes had the faintest hint of bright blue in them as she stared out their bedroom's window and at the night sky. The Moon was nigh full.

Argo and her would always climb the tallest tree near their pack's grounds during full moons and would simply watch as the stars danced around their Goddess. It's been nearly an entire year since their last stargaze.

Argo watched as his youngest stepped out of the backdoor of the cabin, his pup's arms stretched up towards the morning sky as her mouth opened and her tongue poked out in a yawn. Her arms dropped back down before she looked in the direction of where her father was hidden in the foliage, his ears perking up when she spoke.

"It's been a while since we watched the stars dance, hasn't it?" Argo's left ear flicked and he rose up from his belly, russet-red fur being replace with sun-kissed, scarred skin.

"Yes...It has."

"There's a lake no far from here and the moon's full." Argo stayed quiet as Marley gave him a smile before she started to head back into the cabin.

"Bring everyone. Ronan's been wanting to play Catch the Tail again."

Argo watched as his youngest re-entered the cabin and waited until he heard the door close with a click before turning around. He only made it a few steps before the door opened back up and Marley's voice rang out.

"And wear clothes!"

One wolf? That's fine. Two? Eh, tolerable. Three? Now you're pushing it. But SEVEN?!

Ronan's honestly surprised that Jace doesn't seem to feel the urge to run away from their collected aura like she does. Perks of being a human, she guessed.

They weren't a spiritually attuned species, after all.

The mer raised a webbed hand in a weak wave after Lupus gave one of her own as Marley's family met them next to the pier of the lake that had once been her home.

"Ah, I can finally properly meet the famous, Jace!" Pavo laughed as he walked towards his baby sister's little pack. His chest was bare while his lower half was covered by a pair of old and frayed shorts. The burlap itched like a bitch but what his baby sister asks for, his baby sister gets.

"You were all she'd talk about after dad brought her back home! Drove him nuts." He finished and rested his hands on his hips. He watched as Jace's lips curled into a small smirk and turned her gaze towards Marley.

"Really?"

"Are you honestly surprised?" Marley countered as she ran a hand through Ronan's hair-like scales.

"Not really." Jace chuckled while Pavo crouched down to Ronan's height, the little mer unconsciously backing herself up into Marley's front.

Pavo took no offense, he understood. He's seen his aunt in a rage before. He knew his kind could be seen as scary to others.

"You must be Ronan."

"H-Hi."

"Hello. I heard you like Catch the Tail." Pavo grinned, keeping sure his lips covered his fangs, when Ronan pouted as her gaze went back to Lupus.

"Lupus cheats..."

Lupus released a mock gasp of offense at the words.

"I do not!"

"Yes, you do." Lyra countered this time and simply crossed her arms when Lupus growled softly at her.

"Like you're any better!"

Pavo placed his hand against the side of his mouth and stage-whispered to Ronan-

"Don't worry. They know better than to cheat when Canis plays."

"Why?"

"Cause I'll bite their tails." Canis told the little mer, her sharp canines glinted in the moonlight when she faux-snarled at her younger sisters. Lyra gave a light shove at the eldest's shoulder only for a yelp to escape her when Canis wrapped an arm around her neck and put her in a headlock.

"Canis! Ugh, Let go!" Lyra growled as she tried wriggling out of Canis' hold, Canis simply making her hold a smidge tighter. Pavo and Ronan watched the two for a couple of seconds until Rigel appeared beside them. She had an oversized black shirt covering her, it's collar was littered with holes with it ending mid-thigh. Marley knew it was one of the two shirts her father had.

"Go and play." Rigel told them, watching with multi-colored eyes as Ronan tilted her head back to look at Marley. Marley ran her hand through the pup's hair once more before giving Ronan a light push.

"Go on."

Pavo offered Ronan a large, scarred hand and gently wrapped his fingers around her webbed ones after she hesitantly placed her hand in his. Marley watched her pup and siblings until Jace gave her a nudge against her side.

"Go on." Jace repeated her words to her and received a light huff in return. Rigel pointed at the tallest tree around the lake and along with Jace watched as Marley headed towards it.

"I'm surprised you actually put on clothes." Jace murmured.

"My baby brother asked. I owed him one." Rigel answered with a growl while Marley easily climbed up the tree, getting closer and closer towards its peak.

"They're awful bright tonight, aren't they?" Argo murmured, his eyes never leaving the vibrant inky sky. Marley released a soft hum of agreement and settled on the branch opposite her dad's.

The two continued to watch the stars dance around the Moon as she shimmered a rich and bright silver.

"...I missed you too, dad."

Howdy, so little update~. I was invited to write on another platform where I can get moola. So starting slowly, I'm gonna be placing my already finished works onto that platform as well. Now, I'm still gonna write on Wattpad never fear. The other Platform is called WeInk and it lowkey seems to act the same as Wattpad not gonna lie, and instead of just the platform getting money from all these damn ads the authors get a portion as well on WeInk. So I'd really appreciate it if you all could read my stories there too, its free to join and read on, you just gotta deal with ads between chapters like on Wattpad so its really not much different (other than they don't allow fanfiction but I write only originals so that's not an issue). You don't gotta but if you do, I'll love you forever (platonically of course).

I'm planning to put just 1 story [The Stripper and the Anxiety-riddled Dork] on WeInk for now just to test the waters and I'm hoping to have it locked and loaded by the end of this month/start of March. I'm under the same name (TheLycanQueen) on WeInk too.

Anyways, thanks
Hope you enjoyed the chapter and

Love ya,
- Lycan
