More than one week has passed since I saw Damon.
10 days.
I even texted him. Called him.
I was left on delivered. And he didn't pick up.
Every time I close my eyes, my brain keeps replaying the last conversation we had. When we sort of argued about mom.
I understand she isn't exactly a popular topic with my brothers but it's not easy to simply flip a switch and hate her.
People act like grief is supposed to be simple.
But that's just not how it works for me. And I hate how my family doesn't understand that.
What if he's hurt?
What if he's sitting somewhere completely alone and nobody knows?
The breeze flowed through the car, whipping my hair around my face.
I stared out the window at the beach we drove by everyday to and from school.
Luca had on his sunglasses, one hand on the wheel. To anyone else, he probably looked completely relaxed.
But I know him better.
Ever since Damon stormed out of breakfast last week, I haven't seen much of Luca.
And the only explanation I can come up with for why none of my brothers seem to be panicking or scrambling to find Damon is that this isn't as uncommon as I thought it was.
How are they so sure he'll come back each time?
What I don't understand though is why he really left. Each time I bring it up, Raf shuts me down. Damon's stubborn, but surely his ego couldn't have gotten so bruised that he'd leave over that argument with Raf.
Rafael can annoying. And controlling, infuriating, and a know it all.
But Damon isn't a ball of sunshine himself. I almost laugh at the thought of Damon backing down from a chance to argue with someone. At this point, he just does it for the love of the game.
I glance over at Luca. I look back down and pick at a loose thread on my skirt.
"Can I ask you something?"
"You just did."
I roll my eyes.
"Real funny," I murmur.
The corner of his mouth twitches.
I turned slightly in my seat so I could look at him better.
"Is there something going on between you and Sofia?"
