It's only a Tuesday I know I have to get up early. If I want to surprise my students I need to wake up the earliest I can.
I unlock the knob to my classroom door eager to decorate. I cannot wait to see all their little happy faces.
"Need a little help there?" A voice startles me
I turn around,"Hunter..."
"You said you were decorating so I wanna help, for the kids I mean"
"Sure let me set down all my bag of decorations
"Let me help you with that" he walks to me and lifts a couple of bags off my arms
"Thanks...Hunter-"
"It's okay Janie" he smiles
"I'm not sure why I was avoiding you" I admit to him.
Why was I avoiding him, he did nothing but help me tremendously. But why was it that he kept coming around?
I made it clear I still had feelings for Jack, right?
"Janie I'll start on this wall" he rips open a plastic bag that had my banner in it
"Okay I'll start over here" I move to the wall where I claim
"Let's race?" He mumbles
"What?"
He itches his head is embarrassment,"let race?"
Why not? I'm gonna win!
"Okay! Let's see... if I win you get to take me and my students on a field trip"
"Okay, and if I win I get to take you on another date"
I know I'm going to win for sure.
"Deal" I lift my hand for a shake
"You got yourself in a bad position Janie" he says
"As if, please I'm going to be the one who wins this!"
"We'll see about that"
"Ready" I stance
"Ready"
"Go!" I jump

"Good try"
"Good race"
I can't believe we both lost! Right when I finished he finished as well. Now he gets to take me and my students out on a field trip and in return I get to go out on a date with him.
"I think I won by two seconds" I try to convince him
"In your dreams" he chuckles
"So when are going to have our date?" I ask him shaking off the glitter on my pants
"How about today?"
"Yeah, but remember you owe me a trip with my students!"
"Whatever floats you boat"
"I wanted to take them to the museum so they could explore history"
"Then we'll go there" he smiles
"I want to take you to a restaurant I've never been to its by a lake house and you get to eat on a boat"
"I know that place! My parents use to go there all the time and I would tag along!" I said
"Great-"
"Morning Ms. Sully" Kiera skips in
"Morning Kiera! How are you today?" I bend to hug her
"I ate a lot of pancakes for breakfast" she runs her hand in circular motion on her stomach
"My favorite!" I say
"I should go before Sapphire assumes" he interrupts
I nod, assumes what? She should know that me and Hunter are only friends.
"I'll see you at eight?" He stops at the door
"See you at eight" I smile with my teeth
"Wow Ms. Sully" the kids scream as they walk into class
"How do you guys like it?" I say to them
"Yay!" They all cheer
The day goes by a breeze and I'm stuck after school for a teachers conference. Sapphires parents want to meet me for some odd reason. I haven't apologized to Hunters father, Donavan, so this meeting is a chance to.
He was invigorating telling me that I need to stay away from his son. Oh please, if anything he's the one coming to me.
"Knock knock" Hunters fathers walks in.
Rude.
"Hi...nice to see you...again" I manage a fake smile
"Nice to see what you do for a living Ms. Sullivan" he grins
"What a lovely dress Annie" I look at her dress. It's a bright yellow maxi dress covered with lace detailing. Her hair is in a sleek ponytail and her face is caked on with makeup. Her red lipstick sticks out the most.
"Thank you dear" she walks around my classroom examining the decorations
"Um so, Sapphire, she's doing well in-"
"Janie dear, we didn't come for Sapphire sake" Donovan clasps his hands
"Oh?"
Annie looks at me and gives me her sweet smile,"We wanted to invite you to our family dinner"
"Oh-"
"We are not asking you, we are demanding you to" Donovan projects . His suit looks similar to the suit I pour the wine on. Oh that reminds me!
"Donovan, I am really sorry about the wine fiasco on your suit. It was very inappropriate of me"
He's taken back,"Oh please, I deserved it. I should have known that I cannot bribe a teacher." He smiles. Oh how I wish I can pour another glass of wine on him.
"Yeah-"
"It's tonight," Annie moves closer to me
"Oh I um have a date tonight" I honesty say.
"Oh? I thought you were seeing my boy?" Donovan speaks up
"Yeah...he's the one taking me out for dinner"
"Oh well then, um be there at eight" Annie says patting down her sleek ponytail
"Will do, is there anything else I can help you with?" I ask, wanting them to leave as soon as possible.
"No that will be all, thank you Janie"
"Okay I will let Hunter know about the change of plans" I walk towards the door so they would leave.
"Of course, keep up the good work" Annie runs her hands along the back of my arm.
"Thank you, I love teaching"
"Good day Janie" they both say
"I'll see you later. Annie. Donovan."
They both leave and I gasp for air. Did they really just insist that I go to their family dinner?
This family is crazy and I haven't even met all of them.
