Janie and Jack

19: Mmhm vanilla

I woke up with a pounding headache, considering the fact that I drank so much last night.

"Janie" Tiff whines, "How much did we drink last night"

"Maybe a bottle or two...I don't really remember" I dim my head down

"It's hurts so much... Janie... I can see the light" she jokes

"Oh shut up Tiff, time to get up!"

"It's only a Saturday Janie, let me sleep." She whines

I give up trying to steer Tiff out of her bed so I walk back to my room. After a quick cold shower, I decide I should go to the park to just relax. Maybe I should call Jack and see if he wants to go. I haven't spoken to him for a few days so he's probably wondering why I haven't called him.

I press his name on my contact lists and he picks it up on the third ring.

"Hello?" He questions

"Jack! I was going to the park and wanted to know if you wanted to tag along. If you're not busy. Are you busy?"

I hear a grunt,"Um, hold on Janie."

"Okay" he puts me on hold and I began to whirl my hair in my fingers.

Ten minutes later and I'm still on hold, maybe I should just hand up, just as I do his voice appears.

"Hey Janie sorry to keep you waiting I had wedding things to do"

I laugh,"it's okay, so are you still up for it?"

"Sure meet you in ten?"

I tell him okay and I make my way the park. The walk there is not long and is very purifying. I don't know what it is but the fact that I'm walking makes me feel alive. Nature is speaking to me.

I sit by a tree and take out my journal, lately I've been writing about everything that has been happening to me. I wrote about Jack, Hunter, Tiffany, Oona, my dad and pretty much everyone involved in my life.

It feels good to write out my thoughts and just lay it out there.

"Hey Janie" Jack walks up to me

"Jack you're here! Sit!" I put my journal down beside me and pat the space next to me.

"How you been?" He asks

"Why are you acting so weird, anyways guess what!" I jump excitedly

"What?" He raises an eyebrow

"I had dinner with Hunter! And I may have kissed him!"

His face expression drops and he looks at me with his worried eyes.

"Janie, please don't tell me you're falling for that guy" he sighs

Why is he so moody? It's Hunter, he should be happy that I finally found someone I might commit to.

"It's just Hunter"

"Janie, you're my best friend. I don't want you to get hurt" he says it in a sympathetic manner

"Don't worry Jack, I've been holding off about being in a relationship that maybe I should give it a shot." I pat his shoulder

He looks down at his fingers and begins to curse under his breath.

"Janie I need to tell you something" he says quietly

"Go ahead" I smile at him

"I think I -"

"Janie! What are you doing here?" Hunter shouts

"Hunter!" I jump up and run to him

"I came by to pick up Sapphire at her play date" he says smiling

"Such a sweet brother" I playfully slap his arm

"I'm always sweet" he smirks

"Get over yourself!" I laugh

"Eh hem" Jack coughs

"Oh Hunter! I'm here with Jack!" I say showing him behind me

"I can see," Hunter looks back at me,"How bout we go out and get some ice cream?"

"Yeah let me ask Jack if he wants to go" I run back to Jack and ask him.

"You go Janie, I'll be fine here" he pushes me to leave

"You sure? I told you to come and I'm leaving you. Let's go for some ice cream, on me!" I try to persuade him

He chuckles,"Go with Hunter...I'll be fine Janie"

I hug him,"Thanks Jack!"

I run over to Hunter and hook my arm around his. I can get used to this.

When we get to the ice cream shop I order my favorite, pistachio and leave happy. I could live off this ice cream for the rest of my life and I'd still be craving this.

"Delicious" I murmur as I scoop a chunk of ice cream into my mouth

"You have a little-" he picks up his napkin and dabs it on my cotton shirt.

"Thanks" I say with the spoon in my mouth

"No problem" he leans in and pecks a kiss on my cold lips

"Mmhm vanilla" I lick my lips

He laughs as he plops another chunk of ice cream into his mouth. The rest of the day is spent looking after Sapphire and eating ice cream. What a good day!

I do feel sorry for abandoning Jack though. I told him to come over yet I left him, alone. I'll call him and make arrangements for a rain check.

But tonight I want to spend it with Hunter.
