Dave opened his eyes. A white ceiling. He tried to sit up. Not a good idea. Everything spun around and he felt pressure push him back down. What he saw was a fuzzy figure. Bright blue.

"Dave."
He tried to speak but it didn't sound much like talking. More like confused mumbles.

"Blue?"

"Dave! You're awake!"
The blue hugged him tightly. It hurt a bit.

"Ow Ow Ow Ow, blue figure that hurts. Who are you?"

"Its John!"
John. John? John!

"John! Oh my god! What happened where am I?"
John retold the story, as he had to do so many times to the doctors and friends. But this time he left nothing out. Dave stared into his eyes the whole time. Hanging on to every word that left the Blue Birds lips. He remembered nothing from the story but believed it all. As John reached then end his eyes began to tear up.

"...and when I n-noticed how thin you you were. Y-y-you passed out. Dave I had n-never b-een to scared i-i-i-n my life. I drove you here immediately."
John was bawling now.

"John?"

"Hm?"

"How long ago did this happen?"

"Two weeks ago."
Two weeks? I've been out for two weeks? I tried lifting my hand. John helped me. The sickly skeletal hand I was used to seeing was now strong and healthy.

That moment I made a vow to myself.
I am never putting myself through that hell ever again. No matter the circumstances.
I smiled and looked up at John.

"John, this will never happen again. I promise."
He looked down at me. Smiling tears falling from his face.

"I know it won't. Even if I have to stay by your side for the rest of my life just to make sure."

"John, don't ever leave me like that again."

"I won't. I promise."
With that Dave blacked out again from the drugs. But this time John wasn't terrified.
