Story:

From the moment they learned how to spell their names, Min Yoongi and Im Nayeon were taught how to hate each other. Their fathers once titans of the business world had been bitter rivals, men whose pride burned brighter than love. Even on their deathbeds, they left behind a single inheritance for their children: Never bow to the Min family and never trust the Im family. Suga and Nayeon were too young to understand hatred, but old grudges have a way of rooting themselves deep. Fate, cruel and amused, placed them side by side anyway.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Kindergarten desks. School classrooms. High school rankings. University lecture halls. Always together. Always competing. Suga grew into a quiet prodigy, sharp-tongued and aloof, worshipped by fan girls who followed him like shadows. Nayeon became brilliance wrapped in calm respected, admired, breathtakingly beautiful yet boys never chased her. They stayed. They listened. They treated her like something precious but untouchable.
They fought over grades. Over logic. Over theories. Suga
always stood at the top… until Nayeon appeared beside his name. When destiny circled them back together again years later, it did so with cruel irony.

-----------------------------------------------------------

They became professors at the same university.

Suga: Psychology.
Nayeon: Philosophy.

Different subjects. Same battlefield.
Students adored them two legends in human form. Their debates were sharp, passionate, and relentless. Rumors spread faster than lectures. Some students swore they argued like lovers. Others printed fake dating posters and pasted them on campus walls, just to see their reactions. Then came the renovation. Their desks were moved. Right beside each other.
Arguments became daily performances. Students lingered outside their shared office, pretending to study while secretly listening. The university administration should've intervened but instead, they made things worse. They forced Suga and Nayeon into a collaboration project.
The campus celebrated. They did not.

-----------------------------------------------------------

The balance shifted the day Min-Hyuk arrived a new administration professor with an arrogant smile and unfinished business. To Nayeon, he was nothing but a mistake from the past: her elder sister Mina's ex-boyfriend, the man who had broken her sister's heart through betrayal. Min-Hyuk chased Nayeon openly. She ignored him completely.

-----------------------------------------------------------

What shattered her calm was Mina's sudden visit standing in the university hallway, smiling softly, saying she wanted Min-Hyuk back. Mina, a nurse with a tired kindness in her eyes, believed in second chances.
Suga hated Min-Hyuk instantly. Not because of the past but because Min-Hyuk looked at Nayeon like he had a right to. Suga masked his jealousy with mockery, teasing Nayeon endlessly claiming he liked Mina instead, joking about becoming her brother-in-law. He laughed. He lied but every joke sent goosebumps crawling up Nayeon's spine

-----------------------------------------------------------

One night, as they worked late on their project, the lights went out. Darkness swallowed the room.
A breath. A heartbeat. A step too close.
Their faces hovered inches apart. For a split second, the world stilled. Then Nayeon stepped back sharply, brushing it off with irritation. They argued again childish, familiar, safe. Neither dared to name the tension curling between them. At conferences, they defended each other fiercely without realizing it. In debates, they instinctively filled each other's gaps. Guilt whispered softly, unnoticed.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Half a year later, fate struck harder than rivalry ever could. Nayeon received an offer from a prestigious university in Canada. She was radiant finally close to her mother again. Suga felt something inside him collapse.
He had fallen in love long ago. The day Nayeon helped his mother at a bus stop, steadying her when exhaustion made her faint that was the moment. He never said it. He never planned to. On his birthday, Yoongi left behind a confession hidden in riddles and metaphors. Nayeon read it, smiled… and never truly understood.

-----------------------------------------------------------

So they made one last bet.

Best University Professor Award.

If Suga won Nayeon would stay.
If Nayeon won she would leave.

The day came and fate laughed again.
They both won based on gender criteria. On stage, surrounded by cheering students, Yoongi finally broke. With their help, with trembling honesty, he confessed no pride, no rivalry, no masks. Just love.
Nayeon cried.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Min-Hyuk and Mina broke up once more, choosing friendship over pain.
Yoongi and Nayeon flew to Canada to face the hardest judge of all Nayeon's mother. Five days of patience.
Five days of sincerity. By the sixth, she agreed. Suga's mother had always known. She had seen love in her son long before he dared to name it. The wedding was held in Korea. Nayeon's mother stayed. Rivalry ended. Love remained. From enemies molded by pride to lovers bound by destiny, their story proved one truth

Some loves are not born in gentleness. They are forged in rivalry and written in courage.
