Jinsoo:

Story:

Jisoo was a doctor. Jin was a soldier.
They had loved each other since high school young, sincere, and unbreakable. Even when Jin decided to join the military, their love endured. Long-distance was painful, but they believed in waiting. After a year, Jin returned from military leave and rushed to meet Jisoo. That very night, beneath the quiet city lights, he proposed. She said yes without hesitation. A few months later, they married. Three hours before Jin was scheduled to board his flight for a new mission, Jisoo suddenly collapsed in front of him. Panic took over. Jin rushed her to the hospital, only to be met with unexpected joy. Jisoo was pregnant. Jin held her hands tightly, overwhelmed with happiness but also guilt. He couldn't stay. His duty called him away again.

"I promise. I be back before you give birth."

-----------------------------------------------------------

A year passed. Jisoo gave birth to twins a boy named Seo-Jun and a girl named Eun-Hee. She stayed with her parents for support, waiting for Jin to return but Jin never came back. Worried, Jisoo repeatedly contacted the military. For two days, no one answered. When they finally did, her world collapsed. They told her Jin had died in action. They said his body would be sent to Korea and that he would be honored as one of the finest soldiers who had ever served. Jisoo couldn't breathe. The next day, Jin's coffin arrived at her doorstep. As she cried, holding her newborn children, a military officer explained that Jin had been killed by a bomb planted during a mission against terrorists. Someone had targeted him deliberately. Jisoo was confused but grief swallowed her questions. She convinced herself that Jin had died while protecting others.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Four years later, life continued quietly, painfully. Jisoo worked as a cardiologist, raising Seo-Jun and Eun-Hee in the home she once shared with Jin. Her children often asked about their father

"Where is Dad?"

Jisoo would smile through tears.
"He's in your hearts. He always be there."

They didn't fully understand but they believed her.

-----------------------------------------------------------

One afternoon at the hospital, while examining a patient with lung complications, someone knocked on her office door.

"Come in," Jisoo said.

The door opened. Her heart stopped.
It was Jin. Alive. Standing there with a gun in his hand. Jin locked the door quickly and told both Jisoo and the patient to stay quiet. After a moment, he introduced himself as a soldier on a mission to capture a terrorist. Jisoo's hands trembled. She demanded to know why he had left her. Why he had abandoned their children. Jin only apologized. He explained that he had suffered severe hearing damage and could barely hear without a hearing aid which was now missing.
Still shaken, Jisoo guided him outside and gave him a new hearing device recommended by her otolaryngologist friend. Jin thanked her politely and left. From that day on, Jisoo found herself smiling again yet haunted by doubt.

"Was it really him… or just someone who looked exactly like Jin?"

-----------------------------------------------------------

A week later, chaos broke out near the hospital cafe. People screamed. A woman collapsed to the ground, crying hysterically. She claimed her son's body had been brutally cut apart his bones and flesh exposed. Jisoo witnessed the scene and walked away in shock. Later, she learned the story: the family owed money to a foreign loan shark. When the man offered to pay double to spare his life, they instead killed his son. The cruelty disturbed Jisoo deeply. That same day, one of her patients died under her care the first patient she had ever failed to save. That night, she couldn't sleep.

-----------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, after dropping her children at kindergarten, Jisoo returned to work only to see Jin sitting in the waiting area. He pulled her aside.

"Don't you find something strange?" he asked quietly.

Jisoo shook her head.

"Jisoo… don't you remember who I am?"

She stared at him, refusing to believe it.

"You're lying. I won't fall for this."

But Jin didn't give up.

-----------------------------------------------------------

A month later, Jisoo woke up to silence. Seo-Jun and Eun-Hee were gone. Terrified, she ran straight to Jin and accused him of kidnapping her children. Jin denied it but when he saw her desperation, he promised to help her find them. For two months, they searched relentlessly. Finally, they found the twins locked inside the storage room of the cafe.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Jin investigated the cafe owner. Her name was Irene. She was Jisoo's adoptive stepsister. Irene had been adopted before Jisoo was born, but once Jisoo arrived the biological child she received more love. Resentment grew inside Irene for years. She spread false rumors about Jisoo, claiming she dated rich older men for money, slightly damaging the family's reputation. When confronted, Irene laughed maniacally. Jisoo's mother tried to send her to a psychiatric hospital but Irene escaped and disappeared. What no one knew was the truth. Irene had stalked Jisoo for years. She discovered Jin's mission and planted the bomb herself. Jin survived only because the explosion occurred farther away than planned damaging only his hearing. The kidnapping. The dead child story.
The crying woman. All of it was staged. The "son" was killed by one of Irene's deranged associates. The woman crying had been paid to act. Irene wanted to destroy Jisoo completely.

-----------------------------------------------------------

With psychiatric specialists’ help, Irene was finally captured and placed under intensive treatment. Jisoo accepted the truth and Jin. He explained how he survived the blast and why the military had falsely declared him dead. Seo-Jun and Eun-Hee finally had their father back, though they didn't yet understand the darkness behind the story. Sometimes Jisoo wondered if Irene had simply lacked love. Jin would hold her hand and say softly,

"Love matters but knowing the limit matters too."

Irene continued treatment this time under strict supervision and for the first time in years, Jisoo's family finally lived without fear.
