"Keep your eyes closed and focus on the flame.""Okay."
This had been going on for hours. I wanted to refuse his help, but there were consequences to my decision. He may have no idea what they were, but as basics show, absorbing power that great would have a major impact.
"Try to release that power."
"As we have established, you have no idea what you're doing." I sighed, getting sick of what we've been doing. The thought of the storm's power in my system would bring me back to that day. I had about seven breakdowns. I couldn't forget the pain that it brought.
Asher believes because I couldn't let go that the power was only growing. He thought if I continued to harbor this kind of power it would make me sick. But as of right now, I couldn't tell the difference between the pain of this power and the pain of my heart.
A bit of power started to flow out of me causing the winds around us to pick up. Keeping my eyes shut with my arms at my side, facing the sky. I could feel my hair tickling my face as the wind blew harder. The ocean before me began to roar, waves crashing harder than usual. This feeling was just like the storm I dealt with.
"Good, I think it's working," Asher yelled. Though, his words felt as if it was coming from a mile away.
The wind blew even crazier. This was causing me to lose my balance. I tried to hold on as much as possible, but I could feel a storm coming.
The storm that was residing in my body.
The one I had to deal with.
I clenched my jaw. I couldn't hold on any longer. "Asher!"
"Keep going!" He shouted back.
"I-" I fell on my knees, and everything around me calmed back down. My messy hair was covering my face. "Can't."
He didn't know.
He didn't know that the power flowing out of me was hurting me more than helping me.
Tears were streaming down my face. "I-I-I'm done!" I screamed at Asher. I felt him move my hair away from my face. The tears visible, causing me to turn away from habit. I covered my face, "no more." My hands were trembling and it felt like my body was going to crack.
"Okay, we'll stop for today." I didn't like the way this had to be handled. "Looks like I'm going to need all the pieces."
"Huh?" I wiped away the tears, but only more fell down my cheek.
"There are three journals. Yours, Clara's, and Sara's. I have ahold of Clara's and we have yours." I tilted my head to the side, staring at him, and waiting for him to continue. But he didn't say another word. "Come on!" He yelled. He was already on his way to my house.
I looked up at the sky, sighing.
When I walked in my room I saw Asher holding my journal. "Yours has spells?" he asked while looking at the spells.
"Yeah, but I was told to never touch them." I never cared about the spells anyway. As if I needed more magic to deal with.
"Clara's didn't. I wonder why." He stared at the spells with complete confusion. "I knew they existed, but I never thought they would found so easily."
"Easy for you. Otherwise other people or merpeople have no access to this journal. Speaking of, how are you able to read that?" I only knew of one way to open that journal. Thinking about it already got my eyes watery. I shook my head.
Asher slammed the journal shut. There was a sudden panic in his energy, which caused my heart to pound faster. What did he do?
"Lara, one mistake that protectors make are the lies they tell because they believe they are protecting you. It worked for the generations before, somehow. But now, it made everything worse." Asher paused, placing the journal on my nightstand.
