"Noah!" I shook his arm. But then I stopped. What if he woke up and saw my tail?
I looked back at it, seeing the beautiful, radiant blue that it was. I sighed, I couldn't believe how hard it was to move it all the way here. I left a trail behind, since I was crawling and sort of sliding my way to him.
Hopefully no one saw me. I looked around for the hundredth time and made sure it was empty. I pressed my lips together. What was wrong with Noah? He should've woken up by now. I moved closer to him. I felt so tired from moving my heavy tail here, I placed my head on his chest.
"Ugh!" I let out. I didn't have any energy left, so I stayed the way I was. I was sleepy too, and I couldn't keep myself up anymore.

"Lara?" I slowly opened my eyes and balanced on my elbow. I rubbed my eyes, and once I was able to see clearly, Noah was looking at me. I turned away, blushing. The waves were crashing loudly against the shore. Not again.
My eyes landed on the trail that was left behind. I wished that this could've been a dream, but it wasn't. I really was a fish creature mermaid thing. I made another weird sound and placed my head on his chest again.
I heard him chuckle. He moved the hair out of my face. "You okay?"
I laid down on the sand and nodded.
"Are you?" I asked, remembering last night when he didn't wake up. He looked around before looking back at me and nodded. "What happened?"
"Nothing to worry about," he replied. I narrowed my eyes not believing him. But I was not in the mood to push it, I had other things to worry about. Like how I was a mermaid and things like that were impossible.
"Okay."
"You don't believe me," he turned over to look at my face. I pressed my lips together, not replying. Was it that obvious that I didn't believe him? "Hmm," he said, looking around then back at my face. He got up and helped me up as well.
"What are you doing?!" I asked, seeing the smirk on his face.
He carried me, and I wrapped my arms around his neck, looking at his face with wide eyes, especially since he was walking towards the water. I wrapped my legs around his waist and held on.
"No!" I screamed. His feet were already touching the water. "Seriously, Noah, put me down!"
He let go and there was water beneath me, but he was right at the edge. So I managed to step on the sand instead of the water. I took a few steps away from the water.
Noah looked at me, then at the water, and back at me. "Is something wrong?"
"No, it's just- I don't want to go in the water." I backed up a little more and ran my hand through my hair. I wanted to scream to the sky. I did want to go in the water. But I couldn't anymore, not in front of Noah. Not in front of anyone.
The waves crashing onto the shore, came closer, telling me to go in, to go where I consider my home, my heaven.
I continued to back away. I stopped once I thought I was far enough. I could feel Noah's eyes on me. I shook my head, but he began to walk over to me anyway. I continued to shake my head, but that didn't stop him. He placed his finger on my cheek. I looked him in the eyes. He wiped away a tear I didn't even know escaped.
I placed my hand on his wrist and slowly pushed it away. He was getting too close, I had to push him away. I knew all this was too good to be true. Of course, something unnatural would happen so I couldn't have any friends. It had to be like before, I liked my life that way.
