Uniqua's Choice

Chapter 3: Catching Up

Uniqua and Tasha sat down in the living room. Tasha relaxed in a bean bag while Uniqua properly sat down on the couch.

''Um...so....how have...you been?'', Uniqua said to avoid quiet awkwardness.

''Great... you know... school news stuff...''

''Yeah how is that? I've heard it's very interesting, walking around the school, going to other schools.''

''It's pretty good, it's nice to be in the spotlight even if it's for school. It's a lot harder than I imagined it though.''

''Wow, so um... what time is it?''

''Um... 4:45. Almost time for the party.''

''Oh ok''

''Tell me more about you, Uniqua.''

''Well what do you wanna know?''

''How's show choir?''

''Great. I mean I'm a pretty good singer now, and a good dancer!''

''Could you show me one of your performances?''

'' Hehe, I can try. I'll do one of my favorite performances!''

Uniqua got up and headed torwards her iPod player and put on the song I'm A Believer.

As the song progressed, she flawlessy hit every move she made when dancing. She hit every note and sang it so perfectly. Tasha had chills down her spine. When Uniqua performed, she was a totally different person. She seemed like a star, so confident and happy. After like 2 minutes, she finished and ended it with a twirl and winning smile.

'' I beeeelllllliiiiiiiieeeeeevvvvvvvveeeee! Yeah!'' Uniqua sang proudly.

Tasha, almost unable to believe Uniqua was capable of such beauty and grace, began to clap happily. Uniqua blushed and bowed and quickly sat down. Out of nowhere, random clapping noises echoed from the front door. Uniqua looked towards the door and saw Austin smiling.
"AUSTIN DID YOU SEE ME DANCING?!", Uniqua said in shock.
"I saw enough to know that high school has totally changed you.", Austin replied with a smirk.
"This is so embarrassing! I haven't danced in a while I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry you're amazing."
"Whatever, I guess..."
"So are you gonna let me in now or am I gonna have to talk through this screen door?"
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry hold on!"
Uniqua quickly ran to the door, opened it, and gave Austin a welcoming hug. Austin quickly hugged back and still remained his huge smile.
"It's been so long. I was wondering if you were still here. With you in so many scholarship programs I would've assumed you left for college!"
"Hahaha nope not yet. It's nice seeing you guys. How are you Tasha?"
Tasha looked at Austin like a complete stranger would seeing him. Austin was wearing a black leather jacket. Under was a graphic tee of one of his favorite bands Demented Heart. He was wearing dry denim jeans and converse. His body was lean and he looked like he worked out a lot. Tasha got off the couch and joined Uniqua and Austin in their hug. Tasha felt something different, and she didn't like it.
