EDIT 6-24-14: I WILL BE RE-WRITING THE WHOLE BOOK. EVERYTHING WILL BE DIFFERENT BUT THE PLOT WILL PROBABLY BE STILL THE SAME. I REALIZE THAT MAJORITY OF THE RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS BOOK ARE SORT OF... INCESTIOUS IN A WAY IS WHAT I WOULD CALL IT SINCE THEY ALL PRACTICALLY SHARED EACH OTHER. SO I'LL WRITE SOME STUFF DOWN ON MY PC AND UPLOAD IT WHEN IT'S FINISHED.
Prologue
It was a frustrating move for seven year old Madeleine also known as Mimi. Her mother Caroline has been moving from town to town, city to city, state to state. Mimi preferred to have no friends because of their constant moving. It was harder to say goodbye if you had friends. This time at Tulsa, Oklahoma. She hopes to stay. They had a nice home, big rooms, and a huge garden. This was her ideal home.
Mimi was unpacking one of her boxes when she saw a boy riding a bike down at the street through her window. He looked like her, brown hair, blue eyes and pale skin. If she stayed here long enough, people would think they’re siblings. The boy glanced at her. She smiled, but the boy didn't return her smile. He simply rode off without giving her a second thought.
"Madeleine. Get ready; you’re going to school,” shouted her mother by the stairs.
Already she has to go to school. She always hated school, especially when she has to say her name in front of the entire class. You would think she'd have it in the bag just by saying her name in front of the entire class, well, you’re wrong. Mimi always had sweaty palms whenever she had to recite something in front of the class. Even if it was just her name.
"Madeleine Union! Get your arse out of here!” Shouted her mother yet again.
She hated it whenever her mother would use her Scottish accent; it always made her feel more of an outsider. She always wondered why they left Scotland for the US. What is so special here? Mimi always asked herself that question.
When Mimi finally got dressed, she grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs to get to her mom who was waiting impatiently at her car. She ran to the car and her mother tossed her an apple. Then they drove off.
Finally, they had reached the school. Before she got out of the car, she gave her mom a kiss on the cheek and said goodbye to her. As she was walking to her new school, she saw the boy who had ignored her. He was drawing something on his sketchpad and a bunch of girls were surrounding him. They all looked like the same age as him. When he looked up, he saw her, this time Mimi waved at him, just like the first time, he ignored her.
Mimi doesn't know what his problem is but she knew he would have a file in her box of assholes. She didn't know what an asshole is; she only knew guys who acted like this are called one. She only heard her mom use this word on guys who acted like him. Ignorant and arrogant.
Then a women, around her thirties greeted Mimi. She has this warm motherly face and Mimi felt comfortable around her instantly.
"Ah, Madeleine. I’m your teacher and you may call me Mrs. Burke," the woman said to Mimi.
"Oh, well. Do we start class now?" Mimi asks.
Mrs. Burke only smiled and she took Mimi's hand and led her to a classroom. The classroom was already filled with students by the time they got there. All of them looked excited, if only Mimi felt like that. Mrs. Burke was nice enough to be the one to introduce Mimi to the class. Mimi took a seat on the middle. She was sitting next to an Asian girl.
"Hi, I’m Akari. Wanna play with me and my friends later?" The Asian girl asked.
Mimi was thrilled. Nobody has ever asked her to play with them. She nodded and the girl smiled at her. Then Mrs. Burke started teaching ABC's and 123's.Time went by fast and it was already recess. Before she can even stand up, Akari took her hand and they ran to the playground where they played cops and robbers until they were tired.
It was the best time of her life. She already made a friend on her first day of school, she just hoped she would make more.
A few Months Later
Her mom was always gone. Leaving her with a babysitter. Caroline was always going on dates with this man named Jason Lawson. He’s a good man; he always brought Mimi Barbie dolls and doll houses. He’s a rich business man.
The usual time her mother always went home was around midnight. This time, her mom was unusually early. Also, her mom’s acting like a child who has just gotten a new toy. She’s wearing a facesplitting grin on her face.
"Mimi, you’re going to have a new Daddy. And what's better is that we are going to live with him. And you’re going to meet your new Big Brother!” Her mom said to Mimi excitingly.
A new Daddy?! A new house?! A big brother?! What is happening?! It feels like she's going mad, and she's only seven! What a weird day. Suddenly her mom is packing all her clothes in her luggage.
"Where are we going mommy?” Mimi asked her overly ecstatic mother.
"We're moving!” Her mom practically squeaked then added "To Jason's house!"
Mimi felt dizzy. Suddenly everything became blurry and black. A few hours later, she woke up on a bed she didn't recognize. It’s a big bed. The bed is in a room fit for a princess. Then her mom popped out nowhere.
"How are you honey? What you’re seeing is your new room. We’re going to live here now,” Caroline said to Mimi cautiously while brushing Mimi’s hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear.
Mimi is now going to live in a big house. Then, her mother carried her down to the dining table where Mimi could see Jason talking to a little boy. That must be her new brother. But his back looked familiar. Could it be! When the boy turned to look at them, yes, it was! It’s the boy who had ignored her dozens of times.
"Hello Mimi. This is Dylan. He’s my son. Dylan, this is Mimi, she’s going to be your little sister,” Jason said to him. He had an arm around Dylan’s shoulder.
Dylan only stared impassively at Mimi. He didn't smile. He simply shrugged his father’s arm away and walked away to his room upstairs. Jason watched his son with sadness and disappointment in his eyes. She couldn't blame Dylan; she was just as surprised as he was. But she does believe this is going to be a weird family.
