Déjà Connu

But have you met someone,
And recognized his eyes?
As though you used to be one,
To no denying skies.

And learning him more,
May allow your surmise.
Your story cannot be a lore,
Where the vestige hidden lies.

It was parallel to mine.
This familiar strange man,
Proved our souls align.
The eyes were a clear line.

When our souls knit together—
In my hunch, though.
I sense the urge of a lover.
But, how well do I know?

If our souls were intertwined,
Do I find way to detach us?
As in this life, I pine.
Should I leave what was?

If we were lovers in the past,
Why do I feel untethered?
You live the antipode of must—
Have our hearts faltered?

Maybe past is not for future.
I strive on my own orbit,
You live on your stature—
We don’t share the same posit.

I call it “Déjà Connu,” love.
I feel to have known you.
As you are an apt dove,
Known by me, as I know you.
