"I miss you so much, baby. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there for your birthday." My girlfriend, Lauren said over the phone.

She was on tour with the other girls of Fifth Harmony, so she couldn't make it home for my birthday. Of course I was sad when I found out, but there's not much I can do about it. It's her job and I know I signed up for this when I started dating her.

"Don't worry, babe. I have my family and friends, I'll be fine." I sighed, I really wanted her to be here and I know she wanted the same.

"Yeah, but I just wish I could spend sometime with you, especially on your birthday." Lauren replied.

"Look, Laur, we can spend sometime together when you get back. It's only one birthday, I have a lifetime of birthdays to spend with you." I smiled, thinking of the future Lauren and I will have together.

"Okay, baby, I have to go, they're calling me for rehearsals. Happy birthday, Y/N, I love you so much, bye!" I heard her say quickly.

"I love you too, babe." I said just before she hung up.

I threw myself back on my bed and let out a long sigh, today was going to be a long day.

After a couple of minutes just laying there, I finally decided I should probably get up and go downstairs.

I walked down the stairs and rounded the corner into the kitchen where I saw my mom and brother sitting at the kitchen table.

"There's the birthday girl!" My mom exclaimed, causing me to let out a tiny giggle.

"Happy birthday, sis." My brother said, handing me my present. I was a massive box wrapped in blue 'happy birthday' wrapping paper.

"Thanks." I said as I placed the object on the ground and started to rip the paper off.

Slowing, a picture of an acoustic guitar was revealed and I squealed from excitement.

"Oh my god! You got me a guitar, you're the best brother ever!" I shouted as I got up to hug my brother. He reciprocated the hug as he laughed loudly at my enthusiasm.

"You're welcome, Y/N. You deserve the best." He said so genuinely, and I couldn't help but tear up a little.

"Thank you, I love you"

"Love you too, little sis."

My mom then walked over to us, carrying a much smaller box.

"I know it's no guitar, but I hope you like it. Happy birthday, babygirl." She said as she kissed my forehead.

"First, I'm 18, not a baby and second, whatever it is I'm sure I'll love it." I said, a tiny bit of sarcasm laced in my voice.

I opened the box and inside was a necklace with a small dragonfly on it.   A face eating grin spread across my face, as it reminded me of Lauren.

"I love it so much, mom. Thank you, I love you." I said, walking over to her and pulling her into a bone crushing hug.

"First, you'll always be my babygirl and second, I'm glad you like it, Y/N." She mocked me, as I giggled into her shoulder.

"Anyway, breakfast is ready, so let's eat, then the family and your friends will be round." My mom said, pulling away from the hug.

We ate breakfast in comfortable silence, and soon everyone was at our house and the party was in full swing.

I was sitting in the back yard, talking to some of my old high school friends, when I felt a familiar pair of arms wrap around my waist. At first I tensed up but as soon as I realized who it was, I whipped my body around and jumped on them so my legs were around their waist, my arms were around their neck and my head was buried in their shoulder.

"LAUREN!" I shouted as tears started to stream down my face.

"Surprise, babe!" She giggled, obviously amused with my reaction.

"Wha.. How.. When?" I stuttered in disbelief.

"I lied, I could make it for your birthday." She said, as I jumped off of her but kept my arms around her neck.

"Yeah, I can see that. God, Laur, I was so sad, why did you do that?" I asked as she wrapped her arms around my waist. At this point, I had forgotten about everyone around us and I was purely focused on the green eyed beauty in front of me.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad, I just wanted to surprise you." She said, genuinely worried that she made me upset.

"Well, you did, are you happy now?" I giggled, inching my face closer to hers.

"Very." She whispered before pulling me in all the way for a passionate kiss. We honestly didn't care about all the people around us that could see, it was just us two in this moment.

She abruptly pulled away, causing me to whine at the loss of her lips on mine.

"I've got one more thing for you, babe." She said, putting up one finger to tell me to wait.

She ran over the the mic stand that was set up at the back of the garden. I was wondering why that was there.

"Y/F/N, I love you so much." She said before she started to sing. I instantly recognized the song, it was one of my favorites.

Wise men say only fools rush in
but I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you
for I can't help falling in love with you

As soon as she finished, I ran up to her and kissed her like my life depended on it.

"I love you so much, babe" I whispered as tears started to fall.

"I love you too, baby. Happy birthday." She mumbled into the kiss.
