It's Monday, the events of the weekend continued playing on a loop in my mind, I couldn't concentrate.
"Are you even listening to me?" Blake snapped her fingers in front of me. Since I met her we have been hanging out a little and I thought I kinda need more girl friends.
"Huh?" I say coming out of the trance I was in.
"Come on I need to talk party details!" she rolled her eyes. Blake was throwing this massive house party for her 17th with alcohol, a DJ, ultra violet light and paint to go with it.
"Right, you could have those red beer cups." I used to love party's back in my old town but now I've gone off them.
"That's the best you've got? Oh forget it I'll ask Britney later. Holy Moley!" She just stopped. I followed her eyes to see what she'd seen. Wow. This masterpiece was in our midst. A hot tanned boy with brown hair, green eyes and an amazing jawline had just walked into school with josh and Curtis.
"Who's he?" I asked thinking she knew him.
"I have no idea." She looked like she was about to start drooling. The guy looked in our direction, first at Blake who nearly fainted in my arms, then at me, I rolled my eyes and practically carried her into the library. I sat her at one of the tables and went to look for a book I needed for my English assignment. All I could think was 'who is that guy?' I clearly wasn't concentrating because I walked straight into the corner of the bookshelf knocking a good 500 books off. Not only did the librarian stare at me but so did the other 30 students in the room.
"Detention" the librarian whispered "after school Monday" great. Only my second week of school and already have a detention. To avoid any more awkwardness I left the library and ran down the corridor to a corner under the stairs. This is where I've been going when I feel panicky.
"Okay, calm down, breath" I whispered. My temperature was through the roof.
"Are you okay?" A familiar voice asked. Harvey. I dived to hug him. "Panic attack?" I nodded. He looked around before saying "do you trust me?" Of course I nodded. He put his hand on the back of my neck and the other on my cheek. He pulled me closer and kissed me, all of a sudden everything went calm. My breathing was normal again.
"How did you know that would work?" I asked still in his embrace.
" I read online holding your breath can stop panic attacks and when you kissed me you held your breath." I stared in awe, before hugging him I pecked his cheek.

When I got home dad was drunk. No surprise. This time was different his fists were bruised, freshly, and covered in blood.
"Dad?" I said cautiously walking around the outside of the room.
"That bitch just wouldn't stop!" He yelled, still looking down. His eyes flicked up to look at me. "She was gonna get you taken off me."
"Who?"
"Claire." My aunt Claire hates dad, she thinks he's a bad parent so I believe this.
"What did you do dad?" I asked slowly approaching him.
"She had to go." He cleaned his knuckles with a cloth. "At first it was just a punch but it felt so good I couldn't stop."
"Daddy you're drunk, you're scaring me." I moved around him a little more to reveal feet poking out from behind the sofa.
"I was moving the body when you came home." I peered round the sofa to see aunt Claire's lifeless beaten body. Tears fell, crashing on the floor.
" how could you?" I screamed. "You're crazy" I began to dial Harvey's number when dad swung a punch at me, I dodged.
"Daddy please stop." I whispered running up the stairs. Harvey finally picked up.
"Hey what's up?"
"HELP ME!"
"Maddie? What's wrong, I'm on my way"
"No"
"No?" He sounded scared
"You can't come he will hurt you too, call the police my dad he-" I screamed and dropped the phone as dad pulled me back down the stairs. I kicked him in the face and ran to the bathroom, I locked the door and pushed a cabinet in the way. He was hitting the door, hard. I climbed into the bathtub, tears streaming down my face.
After a solid 5 minutes of door hammering it stopped. I could hear faint sounds before the banging continued, it was a little different from before but the lock finally gave way and the door swung open revealing a police officer. He helped me out of the bath and out the house where I saw my father being shoved into a police car.
"Aunt Claire!" I yelled pointing to the living room. An officer ran back in and retuned with Claire's body. They took her away in an ambulance.
I'd been sat with the police for about 5 minutes before Henry showed up, until my dads release Harvey is letting me stay at his place.
