After a few days Korra left to return to the South Pole so she could heal properly. We continued to learn our bending and when we were needed we were sent to areas in the world that need our help. That was our purpose now. One day I found that I had nothing to do so I decided to read for a while. It had been a long while since I had read and I missed my books. I had gotten a book from the store in republic city and was heading to my room. As I walked I wasn't paying attention and I bumped into someone and the two of us fell.

"Ow! Watch where you are walking." I glanced up and saw Kai.

"I'm so sorry Kai!" I helped him up.

"Yeah, yeah. Just watch where you are- What's this?" He picked up a piece of paper off the floor. I could see scrawled on the front of it was Su. I had forgotten the letter had been in my pocket or whatever this outfit had. It must have fallen out when I bumped into Kai.

"That's mine. Can I have it back?"

"It doesn't have your name on it. Kai said and pointed to 'Su'.

"It was a the letter my mother gave to my aunt when she left me at Zaofu. Now can I have it back?"

"Aw, come on. I wanna read it." He said, playing with the edge as if he was about to open it.

"Kai. That's none of your business, now give it back."

"Nah." He opened it and started to read.

"Kai, give it back!"

"Haha! I knew it! You are Tenzin's daughter!" Kai shouted aloud.

"Kai, quiet down!" I practically shouted.

"Why? Don't you want people to know?"

"No. Not really. I especially don't want Tenzin knowing." I finally managed to snatch it out of his hands.

"Why not? He's your father."

"Because, he has a family. I'm just a bad memory now. What he doesn't know won't hurt him." I turned to leave.

"You're scared aren't you? Scared of rejection. Scared he won't accept you." I stopped when he said that.

"Yes. I am afraid. I've been abandoned my whole life. If he doesn't know he won't leave."

"That's not right. He has a right to know." Kai told me.

"Who has a right to know what?" I heard Jinora ask as she walked into our hall. I assumed she was looking for Kai.

"They shouldn't know either. Please just keep this between us." I glared at Kai.

"Ava, you can't expect me to keep this from Jinora. I promise she will be the only one I tell." Kai gave me that innocent look of his. I sighed.

"Tell me what?" She seemed so confused.

"You were going to tell her either way."

"Jinora. I just found out that, well... Ava's father is Tenzin. That's why she is so good at airbending."

"Why didn't you tell anyone?" Jinora asked me.

"Because he already had his family. I was just a mistake. Please don't tell him. If he ever finds out I want to tell him myself. When I'm ready."

"Don't worry I won't. Ikki won't shut up about how she thinks that you are her older sister because your mother and my father dated. She thinks that automatically make us family."

"Well she is right, but for the wrong reasons. I'm going to read. I'll talk to you two later. Please don't tell ANYONE!" I made it clear to them that this was our secret before I walked off back down the hall.

As time passed Kai would bother me about telling. Just this one person he would say and I constantly told him no. I didn't want others to know. He wouldn't tell without my permission but he wouldn't stop asking. Eventually I got so annoyed I punched him square in the face. He didn't ask again after that and Tenzin was furious. Airbenders are a peaceful race. We don't just punch people in the face when they annoy us. He made me apologize, which after he walked away I told him that if he asked again it wouldn't be his face that was in pain. He knew what I meant. Jinora was more mad at Kai when she found out. She told him that it wasn't his secret to tell and that he shouldn't have been bothering me. I often found myself talking to Jinora after that. I would ask her questions about what it was like being Tenzin's daughter. I learned quite a lot about him that way.

Three years passed before Korra returned to Republic City. When a southern water tribe ship finally arrived though Korra wasn't there, are word spread quickly. The Avatar was missing. Tenzin sent Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo. After a few days they returned. I went out to greet them and find out what had happened, since they had stopped at Zaofu before coming back. Opal returned with them.

"Kuvira's whole army was there. She captured mom, dad, and my brothers." Opal told Tenzin when he asked.

"I thought I was strong enough to stop her. I feel like such a failure." Korra added.

"No one expected you to handle Kuvira on your own. It's up to all of us to find a way to deal with her. We're just glad to have you back." Tenzin told her.

"Where's Bolin? He's not still on Kuvira's side is he?" Bumi asked when he noticed he wasn't with them.

"I can't believe he would stay with her after what she did to my family, but we don't know where he is." Opal explained. It had been hard for her to see Bolin working with Kuvira. I walked over to Opal and pulled her into a hug.

"Opal, I'm so sorry. I'm sure we will find someway to save them" I reassured her. She just nodded. I walked her inside and we headed to her room so she could lay down for a bit. I'm sure she was tired after the time she had, had.
