Moving in with the Griers (On Hold)

Chapter 18

Was my mom pregnant? She couldn't be. I need to clear my head.

"I'm gonna take a walk, alone." I announce to everyone.

I change out of my pajamas and into a tee that says "If you will, I will" , a grey knit cardigan, black leggings and my bearpaws. I grab my phone and wallet and leave the house.

It's really early in the morning, about 3, and the sun is just coming up. I decide to walk to the park. Once I get there I climb a tree and just watch the sun rise. I clear my mind of all my thoughts, accept one... my mom. Was she pregnant? I don't know, but I will find out. I call the hospital that my parents and I went to after our crash.

"Hello?" A lady asks.

"Hi." I reply.

"How may I help you?" She questions.

"I was at this hospital about a year ago with my parents. We were in a car crash. I was wondering if I could get some information about my mom." I tell her.

"Sure, what's your last name?" She asks.

"Winters." I say.

"First name?"

"Her name was Lucy." I tell her.

"What did you want to know?" She questions.

"Was she pregnant?" I reply. I need an answer.

"Let's see. The autopsy says that she was indeed pregnant. She was about 4 months along, just beginning to show. It was a girl." She tells me. My heart sinks. I had a little sister.

"Thanks. B-bye." I reply.

"Bye." She says hanging up.

I check my phone and notice it is 7 am. I have been gone for a long time. It only felt like half an hour. Before I can climb down from the tree I hear my name being called. It was Hayes and Nash. Everyone was looking for me. I don't care. I don't want to be by anyone. My phone begins to ring. It's Hayes.

"Hello?" I say answering the phone.

"Madison!" He practically shouts.

"What's up." I ask.

"Where are you? We're all looking for you." He tells me.

"I'm fine. Go home. I'll get there when I get there." I tell him.

"No Maddie. Where are you?" He says.

"I'm fine go home." I reply.

"Fine, I love you." He tells me.

"Love you too." I reply before hanging up.

Once everyone goes back home, I jump out of the tree and walk around. Then I go to the store. I buy 3 tubs of icecream, various chocolates, hot chocolate, whipcream, and coffee. After shopping I walk home.

Before I go inside, I check the time. 11:17. Wow. I've been gone for a while. I sneak inside and put my groceries away. I try to sneak upstairs but I get a phone call from Nash. Damn. The boys come out of Nash's room and find me.

I run into my room and lock my door. I hear them run up to my door and try to open it.

"Go away. " I demand.

"Maddie, open up." Hayes says softly.

"Just go away!" I scream, tears are threateningto fall. I hear Elizabeth tell the boys to leave me alone and to give me some space. They listen. I hear a gentle knock on my door. I get up to see who it is. Hayes. I open my door.

"Maddie, do you need to talk with someone?" He questions. All I can do is nod. I break down crying before I can even say anything. He hugs me and I hug back. Hayes stays and comforts me until I calm down.

"My mom was 4 months pregnant when she died. It was a girl." I manage to say. He just stays and comfort me until I fall asleep.

-The Next Week-

Elizabeth and my doctor both decided that I needed to see a therapist and that I should have been seeing one after my parents and unborn sister died. I have been going every day for two hours ever since Tuesday. Today is Friday.

I just got out of the shower and got dressed. I hear someone come into my room.

"Hey babe." Hayes says kissing my cheek.

"Hey." I reply.

"Come eat breakfast. We have pancakes and bacon and strawberries." He begs.

"Okay." I give in. We walk into the kitchen and Elizabeth makes me a plate.

"Do you want to do something today?" Hayes asks.

" I have therapy." I state.

"Counciling. Not therapy." Elizabeth corrects me.

"What ever it is, I have to go at 11." I state.

"We could go to the movies at 2." Hayes says.

"I don't know..." I say unsure.

"Please . You've been so detached lately and I would really love to take you out." He begs me.

"Fine. What movie?" I question.

"How about Ant Man." He suggets.

"Okay. It's a date." I say while kissing his cheek. I go upstairs and get ready to go since it's already 10:23. I'm ready to go to therapy, counciling, whatever it is by 10:37. I hop in Elizabeth's car and she drives me to the office.

-Skip Therapy-

I get home by 12:16 and get ready to go to the movies. It takes me like 5 minutes so I decide to watch TV. I put on Teen Wolf and watch 2 episodes before it is time to go.

"Maddie, ready to go?" Hayes asks, walking into my room.

" Yeah. " I reply.

He pulls me in for a kiss. I feel his arms wrap around my back as I wrap my arms around his neck. I miss Hayes. I love him so much and he just makes everything better. I feel safe in his arms.

We walk to the movies and Hayes is holding my waist the whole time. We watch the movie and walk back home. I am so tired I can fall asleep standing up.

"Let's go to my room." Hayes suggests.

"Carry meee." I beg.

"If you wish." He says while sweeping me up off my feet and carrying me bridal style. He lays me on his bed and slides in next to me. I almost instantly fell asleep.
