Once, when Leo was 11, he was running away from a foster home when he came to the Gateway Arch. Only a few seconds later he saw the silhouette of a person falling from the arch. He screamed just as the person made contact with the water. Falling from a height like that would be like smashing into concrete.
Leo believed that the person was dead until he played two truths and a lie with the Seven on the Argo 11.

His list:
I had an imaginary friend when I was 4
My nanny put me to sleep in a blazing fireplace
I saw someone fall from the Gateway Arch when I was 11

"Well," Hazel said, "I think you have mentioned the Nanny thing before and you having an imaginary friend is easy to believe, so I'm going to say that the Gateway Arch one is a lie."

"Nope, that's true" Leo stated.

"And you were 11 when this happened?" Percy asked.

"Yeah..." He said

"And your 15 now?"

"Um, yeah. What does this have to do with anything?"

"Oh, it's just that I fell from the GatewayArch when I was 12."

It took Leo a while to match two and two together.

"Wait, I saw you fall from the arch?" He asked.

"Well, yeah. I was on a quest with Annabeth and Grover and we went up there and bumped into Echidna and her Chimera. So, I took a leap of faith. I was probably going to die anyway." Percy replied.

"Holy Hades, I thought you died! Plus, who the heck is Echidna and why was she and her Chimera going to Kill you?"

"I'm a son of Poseidon, the water was like a cushion. Oh, Echidna is a Greek monster."

And that was the day that Leo learned that he'd already met Percy before the prophecy had started.
