Chapter 3 - Day 1

After stuffing our faces quickly with McDonald’s, we quickly hopped back in the car and drove off to Dad’s workplace. The car ride was silent, nothing but the radio playing in the background. I stared out my window, thoughts running through my mind about the horrible time I knew I was going to have not only today but for the next 2 weeks…

“I know you hate what I do…” I turned my head and faced Dad. I had never told him I hated what he did. I had never told him that I disliked, no despised everything about his job. I had only ever told him that I didn’t like working there because it wasn’t my thing.

“Uhmmm… I-I never said that I hated what you did” I tried to sound like I was shocked by what he had just said. But it was no use, he knew the truth.

“Cas, I know you hate it so stop lying. I just want to know why…” he looked me deep in the eye, while still managing to focus on the road.

“It’s just… I… I… I don’t really like it. I don’t like the people you work with. I don’t like the stuck up, rude, diva celebrities that walk through the door everyday – and I’m not just talking about the girls” he laughed at my comment. “I just don’t like it there.”

“I know you don’t want to be here. But please make the most of it. Don’t judge everyone before you get to know them. When you were there, it was a hectic time for everyone. Everyone was just, stressing.” He gave me a reassuring smile before continuing, “give everyone a chance, both the workers and the celebrities. Most of them are actually quite nice, especially some of the boys.” He winked at me and I just rolled my eyes and gave him a stern look.

“Trust me, Dad, none of those ‘boys’ are even worth my time.”

He shook his head, still smiling. I know he will try and set me up with someone. He is always talking about different young men at work, trying to set me up. Yes I’m almost 18 and single, but who cares. I don’t want to date a celebrity, they are just shallow and in it for the money.

We arrived at Dad’s work and I immediately shook my head at the amount of expensive cars parked in the parking lot ranging from BMW’s to Ferrari’s. I rolled my eyes and sighed at the distaste I was already feeling from just staring at the cars. I could not WAIT for this week to be over!!!!
