Falling For It

We walked in through the big glass twirling doors and past reception. The lady at reception must have remembered me because she glared at me and I swear I saw her mouth ‘you’re dead’. She must still be angry with me at what I did to her the last time I was here. I still can’t believe she believed everything I said to her.

*flashback – July 2011*

I walked into the SYCO building after a quick shopping trip during lunch. I was about 20 minutes late to start work again but I didn’t care since I was not coming back next week. I walked past reception when an idea popped into my mischievous brain.

“Hey Cas!” the chirpy 20 year old said from behind the counter.

“Hey there Sara” I smirked at her with the idea swimming in my head, trying so hard not to burst out into laughter.

“Your Dad called me and said that you are late, again and that you need to go straight to the recording studio because you are helping him finish the songs with ONE DIRECTION!!!!!!” She squealed so loud that her boss glared at her. She mouthed ‘sorry’ and looked straight back to me. “I can’t believe you get to hear their album and their songs and listen to them sing and be around them and look at them and help them make decisions about their album and –“

“BREATHE GIRL!” I exclaimed before she died from a loss of oxygen. She laughed and I decided it was time to execute my plan. “Ya know, Lou told me that he thinks you’re really pretty. He asked me if you could maybe call him so you guys can go on a date. He would ask you himself but he doesn’t want any attention drawn to it..”

“OMG LOUIS FREAKING TOMLINSON SAID THAT I AM PRETTY AND WANTS TO ASK ME OUT ON A FUCKING DATE?!!!” She exclaimed basically jumping over the reception desk in excitement.

“Yeah, but keep it down, he doesn’t want anyone to know!” I was trying so hard not to laugh at here expression. It was just priceless!

“Oh ok” she whispered to me before continuing, “but I don’t have Louis’ number…” she trailed off looking rather sad then looked up at me hoping I would have his number. Not having his number was going to be difficult.

“He said, uhhh, that SYCO had his, uhhhh, number on record so just get it off the system.” I gave her a reassuring smile.

“So he didn’t give his number to you?”

“Nah, he said that he didn’t want to risk it falling into the wrong hands.” I smiled but mainly at myself and how convincing the lie was becoming.

“Oh fair enough! Ok sweet!!!” She gave me a hug over the counter before turning to her computer. I walked away giggling to myself.

I smiled at the memory and began giggling at how stupid she was. My Dad looked at me and saw the receptionist glaring at me; he knew exactly what I was laughing at.

“Ya know, that poor girl not only got extremely humiliated but almost lost her job. The only reason why she is still here is because everyone thinks you felt terrible for getting her into so much trouble that you quit.”

“Psssssht! I don’t feel terrible. It was funny. She shouldn’t have fallen for it. If it really was true either Louis would have asked her out himself or I would have had his number to give to her.”

“Yeah that’s true. She was pretty gullible.” We laughed hysterically the entire elevator ride. We would briefly stop, and then laugh as soon as we looked at each other.

We got to level 6 and into the same recording studio I worked in the last time I was here. Dad opened that doors and walked in. I followed and when I saw them, I almost ran back the way I had come.
