(Her dress.)
"I think he's trying to kidnap you." Rosie stated at lunch the next day. "Totally. He's a criminal." Rowan agreed. "Look, it's because of you guys I'm in this mess so don't try to talk me out of it. I owe him, I told him I did, and if he was going to kidnap me, would it be at a public place like the carnival?" Rosie snatched the piece of paper. "It doesn't say carnival on here. We don't even have a carnival." I took the paper back. "Did you think I'd go somewhere with Park and not do any research? The carnival comes in this weekend, at this place." They looked at me skeptically, but dropped the subject.
"Why do you look so spiffy?" Axel asked as I came down in a purple dress. It came to about my knees, small straps, flowey bottom, and hugged my waist. "Going out with friends. Remember, momma is making you drive me to the carnival to meet up with them." He groaned. "But you have a car!" I shrugged. "Give me money for gas and I'll drive." He groaned again. "Fiiine." I smiled. He hopped off the couch and looked at my shoes. "Are you really wearing your blue Chuck Taylor's with that?" I stuck out my chin defiantly. "Yes. Yes I am." He took his keys. "Whatever. Not my night out."
"So which one of your friends like me, and which one of your friends like Elliot?" Axel asked on the way there. "All of them think both of you are cute." I stated. He chuckled. "That's still creepy. But, I'll admit, flattering. Maybe I'll say hi to them." I played it cool, but on the inside I was panicking. "Nah, you know how awkward that will make them feel?" I asked as calmly as possible. "True true. I'll just drop you off." I almost smiled at my victory, but I just turned up the radio and hummed along.
"Thanks Axel." I said as I shut the car door. I wish he would of told me exactly where to meet him. He could be anywhere. Just as I'm thinking of this a hand wraps around my shoulder and pulls me toward them. I immediately take action, kicking the person's shin, then turning around with my fist up. But then I see who it is. "Oh Park you should really warn me." I said cooly, folding my hands together in front of me. He held his shin, grimacing but only barely. "Yeah, I'll be sure to do that next time." He said. I glanced to the left. "That's a mistake you won't make again." He narrowed his eyes. "You think?!" He took a deep breath and stood up straight. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a plaid red shirt. "Alright, you're probably wondering what you're doing here." I rolled my eyes. "No duh." He scowled and took my wrist. "Come on. My mom can't see you. At least not yet." My eyes widened. "Wait what?!"
He took me to a port-a-potty and crammed us in there together. I resisted the urge to plug my nose. "So, do you always take girls to fancy places like this?" He looked annoyed. "Whatever, my mom can't see us." "And why is that important?" I asked. He sighed, and we were so close I could feel his breath on my nose. "Okay, fine. I've been telling my mom that I have a girlfriend. A real girlfriend, not just my normal flings. I've been using it as an excuse for everything. So I don't have to clean my room, when I'm going out with friends she doesn't approve of, everything. When she finally asked what she looked like I made it up. Brown wavy hair, sapphire blue eyes, a little shorter then me. So when you said you owed me one... I realized you fit my description perfectly. I left out the freckles but you should be fine." That's why he was looking me over when we made that deal.
Wait, that means... "You want me to pretend to be your perfect girlfriend?! Oh no way mister. NO WAY." He only smirked. "You know this isn't the first time your friends have provoked us. You probably owe me more then one. You're lucky it's only one. You think we're above messing with girls? Well we all know some other girls who would probably do the trick of getting revenge." I knew he wasn't lying. I had to do this. "I hate you." I said bluntly. He scoffed. "The feeling's mutual. Trust me, I'm also very sorry that you happened to walk into my life with the exact features I needed, and you owed me. But that's not how life works babe." I scowled and climbed out of the horrible smelling toilet. He followed. I nailed him in the arm. "Ow! Opal!" "That's for calling me babe."
"Any back story I need to know?" I asked him as we walked down the sidewalk. The sun was just on the brink of setting, and the street lights were turning on. "Not really. Just be really nice, and really into me. Oh! And we've been going out for almost a year now." I gagged. "This is going to be gross." He tugged at his collar. "Tell me about it."
