Chapter 19

[Natsu]

I woke up with the blinding sunlight beaming directly into my eyes. I flinched my head back and squinted my eyes. I blinked a couple times before looking at my surroundings. I was in a plain room with nothing but a chair in the corner, a desk, a painting on the wall directly in front of me, and the white blinds. I noticed had bandages around my torso. I also felt the light squeeze of bandages around my forehead. I looked down as I realized a pressure on my arm, there was a cast around my forearm that was in a sling.

It wasnt long after I was staring at the medium sized painting of a bluebird on a branch, trying to remember clearly what had happened, that a soft knock was heard on the door. Before I could speak the door opened up and a firmilar face came into the room. She placed her hands on her hips and stared at me.

"Well what do we have here?" She laughed, I sighed a little. "Natsu Dragneel is my patient?"

"Yes, he is." My voice was rough but I chuckled after. "Its been a while, Louise."

"Yes, it has." She paused, staring until she pointed at me. "You, my friend, look like hell."

"Thanks, how sweet." I said sarcasticly. "Er, when did I get here?"

She pulled up a chair and smiled softly. "A little over twelve hours ago... They brought you and your friends in and I banaged you up, then went to check up on your--"

"How's Lucy?!" My eyes widened and I sat up a little as I interrupted, but immediately went back to the way I was as I felt the throbbing pain in my ribs. I winced and then looked up at Louise who had looked away. This worried me, and my heart began to race. "Louise, tell me!"

"Natsu, calm down. She is going to be okay, there's just things that will take time." She looked back at me, her attitude changed from happy to fairly serious.

"What do you mean 'take time' what happened to her? And what about Gray and Erza?" I asked urgently, but she raised a hand to stop me.

"Natsu, calm. Down. Now. What you need to be doing is worrying about getting yourself rested a bit more then we'll talk about seeing your friends, okay? Now, I have to make this quick. But, you have a mild fracture in your arm, your ribs are broken , and there's other things that we'll talk about later." She stood up and pushed the chair back against the wall where it was on the far side of the room as she talked. She faced me and put her hands on her hips as she finished. I nodded.

"Okay, okay..." I sighed a bit and she nodded.

"Good, take care Dragneel. I'll be back in with a meal in a lil while." Louise shut the door behind her. I sat in silence for a good half hour trying to remember all that happened...

I remembered getting Lucy from the clutches of her father and a life she dreaded... Next thing I knew, I was on the pavement, Lucy was ways away. I called 9-11...and then the ambulances and cops showed up. Lucy was on conscious, but her leg was twisted in a very, very painful looking way. Erza was under a car...Gray was laid onto a gurney and then I wake up in here.

A soft knock was finally sounding upon the door and I sat up. "Come on in."

Louise came in with a food tray and a stand to rest the tray on.

"Now remember, this is hospital food so it isnt exactly high-class." She laughed a bit. I nodded.

"Thanks."

I finished eating and she smiled.

"Ready?" She asked. I gave her a confused look. "We're gonna go visit your friends, so lets get a move on."

I nodded, thankful that she is allowing me to see my friends.

"Get up slowly, and steadily. We dont want to worsen your injuries." She said, and I nodded again.

"Alright..." I slowly - and a bit painfully - stood up. The tiled floor was cold against my feet, but it didn't bother me too much. I nodded, letting her know that I was good to go.

We steadily walked out of the room and began making our way down to Gray's room first since his was the closest to mine. Louise quietly opened the door and poked her head in before waving towards her, signaling me to come on in.

"Oi, Gray." I greeted him as I stood beside his hospital bed. He looked up at me with the same old poker face he always has when it comes to me. He may look fine, but I knew he was a little freaked out from the crash.

"Eh? Natsu, what are yah doin'? How's Erza and Lucy?" He asked, my hand turned into a tight fist when he mentioned Lucy's name but I just shook my head.

"I don't know...I came to see you first, since you're the closest to my room." I shifted my weight and he nodded.

"Ah, okay..." He glanced up at Louise who was standing quietly by the door. She smirked and opened the door.

"I'll be back in a little bit, fifteen minutes tops."

I nodded, "Alright, thanks Louise."

She nodded back and then shut the door behind her. We heard the door click on the latch. I waited for a quick second and pulled up a chair, slowly sitting down.

"So, how are yah holding up?" He asked me. I chuckled and gestured back at him.

"I could ask you the same thing."

He shrugged lightly, " I dont really know, and thats the truth... "

"Eh?" I tilted my head a little. "What do you mean you don't know, Gray?"

"Well," he rubbed the back of his head, thinking about his reasoning, "it all just happened so fast, I didnt ever get the time to process it."

"Oh... I see. Well, hang in there...I'm going to go check on Erza, then head over to where Lucy is, where ever that may be..."

He nodded as I stood up, "Let me know how they're doing... You've changed Natsu."

I nodded, "I will...and I take things seriously when it comes to my friends, you know that."

"Er, thats not what I meant but... I know. Tell Erza and Lucy I say hi..."

I nodded again and stepped out into the hallway. One down, two to go.

I looked left to right then leaned against the wall. It was only a few seconds before Louise came back with a few files. She smiled and gestured down the hallway.
"Next."

I nodded and began walking by her side.

"Yeah, lets go see Erza."

Hey all!! Thank you all so, so, so much for the positive and kind feedback. It really makes me happy that I'm actually making this a decent story. I have been MIA for the longest time, and I deeply and humbly apologize... Life keeps me busy. Now, there will be another 'Natsu' chapter after this one because I didn't have the energy to write it all in this one. Anyways, I hope to get onto the next chapter soon and write it for y'all!
