Tom lay stiff as a board that evening, deep, even breaths with his arms crossed over his chest. He hadn't even bothered to change out of his suit. Avery and all the other boys were peacefully asleep in their pajamas but Tom couldn't even get a wink of sleep.

Had he shut his eyes for more than half a minute, innocent, baby blue would drift into the blackness and Tom would be forced to open his eyes.

He didn't know why he did it. A dagger was pressed to the back of his neck - he was like a puppet and something else pulled the strings.

Abigail glanced into the mirror the next morning and pouted at the black clouds beneath her eyes. She used the palm of her hand to try and rub the coal away, earning a bad mood from Alison who had waved her wand over Abigail and the make up was gone. Though, Abigail couldn't say much for the nest her hair was.

"Slughorn has a quiz for us tomorrow, remember?" Abigail mumbled as she braided her hair back, inwardly groaning at the thought of the next day being, sadly, a Monday. "We should study."

"But I don't want to study," Alison pouted, fluffing her eyelashes up with makeup.

"We can either," Abigail started, ignoring Alison completely, "go to the library or stay in the common room. You decide."

Truth is, Abigail wanted to stay hidden for the rest of the day. The rest of her life sounded tempting but that was highly impossible. Abigail just wanted to forget the previous night and move on.

"Let us go to the library, shall we? - hurry up, I'm starving. I want to sneak some food in there."

Why had I suggested the library?

Of course, it didn't go by plan. Alison was caught trying to sneak grapes and bacon into the library by the librarian herself. Abigail had a funny belief that the librarian could see through a persons clothes, and Abigail shifted uncomfortably at the thought, crossing her arms.

"Blast that old hag," Alison huffed, dropping herself onto a one-seated sofa. Abigail sat across from her, keeping her ears and eyes out for any sign of Tom Riddle. "Last night was amazing, right? I cannot wait to see what it is like when we graduate out of this stink hole."

Abigail frowned at her, Alison's, words. "You don't like it here?"

Alison shrugged and grabbed a random book off the bookshelf they were sitting beside and forced it open. "Ah, a book that belongs in the restricted section. Whoever had this last was a fool."

"Why?" Abigail quirked an eyebrow. "What does it say?"

Alison was scanning the book with her eager dark blue eyes. Abigail bit the inside of her lip. "This - this is amazing..."

"What is?"

Alison looked up with a grin before it faltered when she kept reading. "What is the point in that?" she asked, huffing slightly with amusement. "What a waste of time."
