Tyler's POV

I wanted to ask Jeff what was going on but I was afraid. The closer we got to Chloe's room, the more yelling we heard. It wasn't like the scream we heard earlier.

It was a man's voice.

"Security!!" Jeff yelled into a walkie talkie as we rounded a corner. "Meet me in room 210! NOW!!" I wasn't sure what was going on but I knew whatever it was, it wasn't good.

We both froze when we got outside Chloe's door. "You should've died. Not my wife!!"

Wife? My eyes widened.

Her father.

"Daddy." I heard her gasp. My heart broke.

"We need to go in there!" I whispered not taking my eyes away from the door.

"I am not your father! You are not my daughter! You are a murder!! I will see you in hell!!"

"I can't listen to this!" I yelled.

"No! Tyler!!" Jeff grabbed me.

"What are you doing?!" I tried to break away from his grip. "We have to help her! Please Jeff! He's killing her!"

"I know. I know." He whispered just as broken as I felt.

He finally released me. I turned to see six security guards come around the corner.

That's why he waited.

"Be careful! Whatever you do, do not hurt Chloe!" With that he kicked the door down.

When the door opened, my heart dropped as I saw a man's hands around Chloe's neck.

"Oh look!" He teased. The man's voice sounded like acid. "You made friends here!!" His grip tightened on Chloe's throat, making her gasp in pain. "And they came just in time to watch you die!"

"Let go of her, Mr. Evans." Jeff said calmly but forcefully.

"Don't tell me what to do, physical therapist wannabe." He sneered but let go of his grip around Chloe's neck. Before stepping away he kicked her ribs causing her to roll over coughing, trying to catch her breathe. I quickly jogged over to her.

I knelt down and brushed a piece of hair out of her face. "Chloe," I whispered softly. She opened her eyes at the sound of my voice.

"Tyler!" She gasped sounded relieved with tears in her eyes. Her bloody hand slowly made its way to my face. I took her hand in mine and leaned down to kiss her forehead.

With our foreheads pressed together I whispered, "I'm here. It's okay. I'm here Chloe." She tried to sit up but gasped in pain. "Don't sit up. Just relax. He's not going to hurt you. I promise. I swear on my life, he will never touch you like that again." I laid down next to her blocking here view of the six security guards and Jeff dragging her father out of the building. I gently pulled her into my chest and kissed the top of her head.

"Chloe?" Jeff whispered kneeling on the floor by us. "Are you alright?"

My heart broke as I felt her head shake back and forth. I ran my fingers through her hair, hoping to relax her even just a little.

"We need to get the doctor," Jeff said standing up. I just nodded. It was quiet. We all had questions but no one wanted to push Chloe. At least not now.

"I'll be right back. Gently put her on her bed." With that he turned and jogged away but not before saying under his breathe, "I can't believe he got past security."

I watched as the door shut softly. "Chloe?" I asked brushing a piece of hair behind her ear. "I'm going to pick you up now okay?" She nodded slightly. I stood up with her in my arms. A couple of weeks ago I wouldn't have been able to do that.

This center really does help. Maybe it was Chloe not this center that helped me get better. I looked down at the girl in my arms. Chloe is a strong girl. But I have never seen her as weak as she is in my arms now. I could see two big bruises form around her neck.

I gently laid her down on her bed and tucked the covers up to her chin. I pulled up a chair and sat down next to her with her delicate hand in mine.

I watched as she fell asleep. For the first time in a very long time, when I looked at Chloe I felt this overpowering feeling of protectiveness. Mixed with something else.

When I saw her father's hands around her neck....... I shuddered at the image embezzled in my brain.

I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her knuckles. "I will not loose you again."
