Chapter 11
Fire from the Sky
Floyed followed you everywhere in the mansion, making sure you didn’t get in trouble. The more you spoke to him you realized that even the Rebels had goodness in them, even if they were led by Elathan. Floyed would tell you about his old life before he met Scarlet. He really was from a different world, a city in the sky of different beings. No matter how many times you ask him if you could see his true form he would say no each time. It made you wonder if it was ugly but the way he described the skeletal being made out of armor, it didn’t sound so bad; though he acted repelled by it as if it was his mortal sin. To be different…. You were different too…. Was it really a sin? No, it wasn’t. You wish you were brave enough to tell Floyed that, but you weren’t.
“Floyed, Miss Snow; There was a sighting of a fleet of Robo-Gaurdbots in the distance. Elathan wants you to evacuate Virus off of the island as far as you can!” Elathan’s butler, James said. You looked at him mortified; suddenly Floyed grabbed you by the wrist.
“Come on!” he said, pulling you out from the building’s front steps. You could see a dark mass of robots flying your way over the sea. “There is no time to sight see!” Floyed snarled grabbing your wrist again. You followed him through the trees, suddenly seeing the edge of the cliff you grew anxious. But Floyed wasn’t stopping! He ran right off the edge, dragging you down with him. You plummet downwards screaming without a single thought in your head, but the idea that you were going to die. The ocean’s water and rocks started to move closer and closer, this was it. This had to be the end. But suddenly without an idea there was a burst of light overflowing with such life. Swirls shooting outwards like spider webs wrapping up a dusty wall, the lights were swirling from Floyed’s legs, vibrating all around him. He grabbed you by the waist; it seemed like an impact that sent you fumbling even faster. Suddenly you felt the gravity shift upside down and you realized that you weren’t falling! Floyed somehow, he was carrying you across the water; flying. You gripped his shoulders looking at the lights that frolicked around his legs. Was that the reason he was able to fly? You then noticed his face; his ringed eyes had dissolved into pure white that glowed with the same flaming swirls that frolicked from the side of his face. It reminded you of flames licking up the side of his face.
“Floyed!” you cried out shocked as he did a twirl up through the sky like a spiral, he did it so freely. He glanced down at you with those eyes; it was so eerie yet beautiful. He gave you a crooked smile, as if he already knew his fate.
“Yeah, I can fly.” He said, rolling through the air and then flew straight for a while. He obviously enjoyed flying a lot, for a while you totally forgot about the mass herd of robots that were heading your way. Suddenly you were confused, why were you heading towards the robots!? “Good-bye, Virus.” Floyed whispered close to your ear. Suddenly he dropped you, gravity, that heartless bitch shot you downwards. Falling, plummeting, and faltering down, down, down; the wind snapping at you like razor blades. Your hair tangling in your face, and unwillingly you summersaulted into the air; stuck looking at the sky.
The flock of Robots aiming their missiles at Floyed, he had used himself as a decoy!? Abruptly, you last glance of him was destroyed with an overshot, overflowing bust of white light of flaming crystals. “Floyed!” you screamed, he just… he just sacrificed himself for you! You hit the ocean’s black surface, you back hitting it first. Sending a pain down your spine and neck, it was like crashing through a wall.
You shot under the water, the waves crashing down over you sending you farther down into the ocean’s depths. You tried to battle through the water, but he was rather cold and bitter against you. But no matter how many times you would reach the surface another wave would shoot you back under. It became an endless cycle of fighting the waves, hitting the surface, gasping for air and then being shot back under with a mouthful of water. It was too much, too much, you were about to give up and drown for good, when-
