So apparently people say Micah as My-kah. I've been saying Mee-kah.

What do yall say?

*******

Micah fell asleep shortly after. I don't mean, he opted for a nap and so I offered up my bed. No.

He fell asleep on me; as in, in the embrace. He was snoring within minutes. I thought he was joking, it seemed impossible, but when I shook him now and again, transitioning from whispering his name to nearly screaming it, I concluded that indeed he was asleep.

He was out. As humorous as it was, it was a bit concerning. How tired must he be to sleep just about in any position?

We're in bed now. He's wide awake, and I'm ready to call it a night.

"We can eat fully cooked meat, but we prefer the pink in the meat. It shouldn't be raw; we've grown accustomed to not eating fully raw meat, but well cooked is crossing the line for us. We're more carnivores than omnivores, after all. Our human side can tolerate sweets and all the junk humans can eat, but our wolf side needs the meat. So you'll find wolves eating meat daily. Down to the kids. They eat meat too. We actually start them off with raw me— are you listening?"

My eyes pop right open, and I cheekily grin as I grip the blanket. "I am."

"You're sleeping!"

"I'm awake!"

"Imani." He grins, squinting his eyes as he adjusts the position his head rests on his folded arm against the pillow. "If you want to sleep, you can, you know?"

"I know. But you're speaking and I'm listening. The kids eat the raw meat as well. I was listening." I giggle.

He smiles, reaching over and rubbing my cheek. "Sleep. It's fine."

"No. Go on, I'm listening."

He leans closer, hooking his arm over my back, and then pulls me in close. Incredibly close. Micah then tucks my head under his chin. He makes sure I'm comfortable, before rubbing my back lightly, from the bottom to the top and back. I assume it's an act of comfort, to lull me to sleep.

"Go sleep, Imani. I'll be here when you wake up." He mutters.

That's all I needed. I was out like a light within seconds.

When I do come back to the land of the living, I'm found with my leg hanging off the side of the bed, and the blankets covering my top half. A light draft sweeps around the room to confirm this. I stretch; squinting at the brightness beaming through the window. The curtains are wide open, along with the window.

He left. The window being that damn wide has to be the evidence. I then get up slowly, groaning here and there when a bone cracks here or a muscle tenses up there. I'm even rubbing my left eye as I make the bed. Then, my sluggish body moves towards the bathroom.

The first duty I do is washing my teeth, followed by blowing my slightly stuffed nose. Right after, I turn on the shower, stuffing my hair in a shower cap and stripping naked before tossing the items in the laundry basket.

I need to do laundry soon. Today, matter of fact. I'm back in office on Monday.

When the steam fogs up the ceiling of the bathroom, creating a rather hazed ambiance, I step into the shower, wetting my legs and front half before turning around, wetting my back. I then turn to the front, cupping water in my hands before splashing my face, groaning at the perfect temperature.

It's exactly where I stay for as good as what feels like ten whole minutes. Eyes closed and embracing the heat. My mind slowly drifts to last nights conversation.
