Riker Lynch

We waited outside the courthouse all day, waiting for Ell and Delly to leave. Rocky and I both groaned when we realized mom and dad were there, but we both saw it as a sign. Of revenge. After that, we followed them home and waited until making our entrance.

They were celebrating her wedding. They shouldn't have been there, I should be the one celebrating. These people turned their backs on her when she needed them most, and yet they get to have a party with her while I've been rotting in a jail cell. In my eyes, my parents are more awful than I have ever been. I didn't give two shits about the people I killed, I didn't know them like that. But Rydel, Rocky, and I? We're family. And they've shut us out. Maybe I kind of get the thing with Rocky and I, but Rydel didn't choose to have a boyfriend try and rape her. She didn't choose to have DID. The thought made my blood boil. They'd best watch out... I had a gun on me, and though I hadn't originally planned on using it... Well, plans change.

"To Rydel and Ellington," Ross's voice declared, "May they have the happily ever after they deserve!" We waited a second.

"Yes," I said, entering the kitchen and raising my gun, "To Rydel and Ellington."

"And here's to them coming with us, now," Rocky said, following behind me. Mom and dad had looks of pure horror on their face, it was a beautiful sight.

"I'm calling the cops!" Dad yelled. Immediately, I pointed my gun to him. He tried standing, but stopped when I held it to his head.

"Rydel," I ordered calmly, "You and Ellington go get in the car, please." She shook her head.

"I can't, Riker. Not until I'm better." I was shocked for a second. The old Delly wouldn't have hesitated to follow me. What were they teaching her at Northcreek?

"Delly, come on," Rocky said, "let's just go and no one has to get hurt here."

"You get out of my house!" Mom yelled, "I won't let you hurt her anymore!"

"Me?" I snorted, "At least I gave a damn about her! You fucking abandoned her when she needed you most!"

"Get out now Riker!" Dad yelled, "Ross, call the police!"

"Daddy no..." Rydel whimpered, her confidence from earlier gone. I imagine listening to us argue over her like that didn't exactly help..."I need them! Them being gone hurts more than you can imagine, I just want my brothers back!"

"Delly," Mom tried to reason with her, "They hurt people. They let you suffer in silence while they did it, too. They have to pay for what they did."

"At least they didn't leave me in a hospital to die," Rydel snorted, "If it weren't for Ellington, you would have let them take me off life support! I'm not stupid, mom. You would have let your own daughter die. I was more awake than you thought I was, I heard you talking to the doctor about it." She ran out of the room after that. She didn't leave, I didn't hear the door slam or anything like that. Ell sat still, pondering what to do. He slowly got up and followed her upstairs, to what I presume was her old room. My fingers danced on the trigger, leaving dad's fate in the hands of chance for now.

"LOOK WHAT YOU DID!" Mom yelled at me. I rolled my eyes.

"Shut up, mom. Unless you want to be a widow in the morning," I snarled, before turning to Rocky. "Go help them get ready." He mock pouted.

"But I wanted to see you blow his brains out!" I laughed, shaking my head.

"Go, Rock. I'll wait." He nodded and ran out of the room while I slowly paced around the table. I had no intentions to hurt Ryland and Ross (who were both shaking and sobbing at this point), but I think I'd made up my mind. My parents had to go.

"Riker, please don't do this," Ryland pleaded, "I'll forgive you for killing Sydney if you'll just leave! They haven't done anything to you!"

"Of course," I retorted, "Because they were too busy spoiling their two perfect sons. Do you know what the hell the rest of us have been through the last few years? Prison, suicide attempts, murders, and mental disorders aside... You two have always been the favorites. You haven't had to fight for their affections for the past five years or so. It was always Riker, Rocky, and Delly against the world, fighting for whatever they wanted or needed. While Ryland and Ross got everything they wanted on a silver platter."

"And that's a reason to even threaten to kill them?" Ross questioned. I rolled my eyes.

"You're not helping their case, brat. Now shut your mouth." Ross stayed quiet, tears running down his face. I softened. "Sorry Rossy..." He shook his head.

The sounds of movement upstairs replaced the sounds of our talking. It didn't sound like Rydel or Ellington were fighting Rocky, thank God. I was ready to get on the road. I stared down at my two little brothers. I wasn't abandoning them to the system, I was not like my parents.

"Go get packed, boys," I said, "Go now." Ryland stared at me defiantly. I rolled my eyes. They weren't going to make this easy, of course.

"Make me," He snarled.

"You want to see a bullet go through his brain?" I asked, "I will do it. And you will come, whether I have to force you or not. Now go."

"No!" Ross yelled.

"Fine," I snarled. Without hesitation, I pulled the trigger and my father dropped to the floor, blood splattering everywhere. Simultaneously, the three in the kitchen screamed in horror. For a second, that was. I put my dear old mother out of her misery before I turned my attention back to my baby brothers, who were sobbing.

"What happened Riker?" Rocky yelled. I shrugged.

"Pack for Ross and Ryland, and let's get this show on the road!" I yelled. I forced the boys out to the car and waited for Rocky to join us with the newlyweds.

Then we hit the road, not even looking back. Tennessee, here we come.
