Tess's POV:
"Twenty three hours," Josh said into Brian's phone camera. "Six young adults. One bus."
"You think you know, but you have no idea," Stephen added.
"We are about two hours into the drive from Scottsdale to Seattle," Josh continued. "And we are so bored."
"Le females are playing Ninja." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Brian turn his phone toward Jess and I as he spoke. "And it seems that Roadie is winning."
"Is that my new nickname?" I asked absentmindedly as I neatly dodged a karate chop from Jess.
"For now."
"Hey wait," Jess exclaimed. "She's not winning. We're tied."
I laughed as I stared at her right hand, positioned just over her head. I stood with my eyes locked there for about seven seconds. She noticed; her hand twitched slightly. Then, without even moving my eyes, I struck my hand out and slapped her left hand, which had been down by her waist.
"What the hell?" She asked, putting her left hand behind her back. "How did you do that?"
"I was raised by ninjas," I answered seriously. "Your turn."
"Hurry up!" John whined. "I wanna play."
"Patience is a virtue, my friend," I murmured mysteriously.
Jess lunged forward at my left hand, missed, and got caught in a fatal position. I immediately took advantage and smacked that hand.
"Woo!!" I cheered. "I win!"
"And our champion remains undefeated," Josh exclaimed.
I laughed. "John, you ready for your rematch?"
"Hell yeah, I am," he said, jumping up. "Josh get in here."
Josh joined us in the center of the bus as we began a new game of Ninja.
"Jess," Brian said. "You excited for touring?"
"Of course," she answered. "How much longer until we get to Seattle?"
"Like twenty one hours," Brian chuckled. "Are you already getting antsy?"
"I just want to play!" I could see her bouncing her leg. "And I'm hungry. What time is it?"
"Almost eleven," Stephen answered, strumming his guitar. "Josh your phone is ringing."
"Can you get it?" Josh asked, his eyes flicking back and forth between my two hands, waiting for me to take my turn. I went for John's hand, but missed.
"Hello?" Brian said. "...Okay, hang on." He pulled the phone from his ear and said, "It's Connor, they're going to stop for lunch in about an hour. Any specific requests?"
"Is there a Crispers around here?" John asked. "I think there is, let's go there."
"Who's Connor?" I asked Josh softly.
"My little brother, stagehand, drum tech, merchandise guy," he answered. "You'll be working with him a lot."
"Cool." I slapped his final hand. "You're out!"
"I accept my defeat, Madam Ninja," Josh murmured solemnly as he bowed at me. I burst out laughing, of which John took advantage, and smacked one of my hands.
