Chapter Fourteen

I'm bulletproof but my heart is not

Ash's POV

I don't understand why people are trying to kill me. Now they are trying to kill Titan for protecting me. There is not much reasoning behind anything. I just know that what I discovered and created, they did not want it to come alive. But I don't understand why. It could change everything in this world. Cure our loved ones. What is so bad about saving the ones that we love?

I turned my head to look over at Titan who is driving this car that he stole. He took the tracking chip out of it so that we could not be tracked. But he said we would have to take another one soon as this runs out of energy to drive.

I have no idea where we are going. I told him that we should go to New York to talk to my parents. They could help us. But he said if we went there they would kill them along with us. I didn't want to risk that chance and so didn't Titan.

I looked back out the window watching the trees pass by, watching the cars zoom by also. I wish things could go back to being normal. Why did I have to be so smart and determined to create and research something that would have killed me?

My eyes landed on a sign that read, 'Welcome to Ohio'. I guess we are going out west where it is more secluded. I guess it is more safe out there then being close to the city. Plus I never seen some parts out west, so it would be nice to see.

"Where exactly are we going?" I asked Titan, turning to look him at him.

He glanced over at me and back at the road. "There is this home out in Colorado. Up in the mountains. My father told me about it that him and his wife used to go there to get away. So that is where we are headed too." He informed me.

I remember Titan telling me about his father. He's the guy who created him. And the one that Titan looks up to. I wish I could have met him. Hopefully one day I could.

I felt Titan grab onto my hand, looking over at me and giving me a reassuring smile.

"How can you feel things but you are bulletproof?" I asked Titan after a couple hours of silence.

He looked over at me and smiled.

"I may be bulletproof, but my heart is not." He told me.

I smiled and said, "Is that how you knew that I was different from..... Other people?"

He chuckled at this and shook his head.

"Ash I can't really explain how or what made me connect to you. But like what father told me, you are the one and that fate wanted us to be together. You never mess with fate." He restated his father's words.

I blushed and nodded, looking back out the window.

We are somewhere in Illinois. Indiana was a short drive and so was Ohio. I thought that it would take awhile to go through each state but if you are driving at Titan's speed, then I guess you can get through anything in no time. I don't see how we did not get pulled over yet. Did he do something with all the cops or something? It's unbelievable and impossible if you ask me.

"Where are we? It looks like nothing but.....Swamps?" I looked over at Titan with a confused expression. Why are we in swamp land? This is not the time for alligator hunting. Wait, is that even a thing?

"We are in Sanganois. And yes it's swamp land. I did research on places that are most secluded in Illinois. So we were closer to here so I made the decision." Titan informed.

"You can do research in your head?" My eyes widen. I learn something new everyday about Titan.

He nods and says, "I'm one of the best. As I been told by many people, Ash."

I couldn't help but chuckle about how serious Titan always is. He truly is a robot. But at times, you can't even tell. Which is surprising, his father really did do a great job in creating him.

We continued driving and soon made a stop by a whole bunch of trees. I had no idea why we just pulled off to the side of the road, but I didn't bother questioning Titan. I just followed him into the woods, holding onto his hand so nothing in these woods would kill me.

We made a sudden stop close to the muddy water. God, this place smells. Who would want to live out here?!

"On the boat." Titan demanded.

I looked at the boat in front of us, raising an eyebrow and taking in the look of the boat. That thing does not look like it runs and would sink any second now.

"Um.... Ok." I said hesitantly as he lifted me up and sat me down in the boat.

I watched him stare at the motor for a few seconds before he took the top off it off and pushed something; then starting it up.

Like I said, I learn something everyday.

The boat ride lasted for about twenty, twenty long unbearable minutes. I thought the boat was going to sink, but it was just an gator hitting the side of the boat with it's head.

Titan got off the boat and lifted me from the boat and on my feet. I took in the view that was in front of me. The grass was long in some places, trees surrounding the old white house.

"Does anyone live here?" I asked Titan. He shook his head and placed his hand in mine, walking up to the house.

"My research told me that this house has been on the market for fifty days, six hours and twenty five seconds." God bless Titan and his smartness.

Now lets hope that we get to stay here for a little bit without trouble knocking at our door.
