Jungkook
Jungkook stared at the ceiling with wide eyes, a dry tongue, and too much sweat dripping down his forehead.
The headphones drooped on his skull. They squeezed his neck and repeated the recording over and over, as if trying to make the words feel more real. Jungkook doubted they ever would.
It was a long recording. Longer than the communication between Jin and Jungkook. But Kass had been kind enough to edit out the blank space, so it felt like listening to a normal conversation. Face-to-face. But no. It was a signal transmission ranging from Ixyll V to Neon. The exact location wasn't precise, but it was enough.
Kass peeked in the radio room and knocked, holding a cup of coffee. Laced with vodka, he guessed. That was their tradition. Coffee wasn't strong enough anymore.
"Was it a real lead?" she asked, handing the cup over to him.
It took him a few seconds longer than needed, but he sat up in the bouncy chair and took the warm cup. The heat spread through his fingers while his prosthetic felt nothing. Sometimes he wondered if he'd ever adjust to that feeling. Or, lack thereof. Half of his body had nerves intact. The other half didn't. Or, other arm, he should say. Though he swore half of his face didn't have the same nerves it used to.
