The city lights blurred as the car slipped through the backstreets of Monaco, far away from the harbour where cameras usually waited like predators. Lando kept his eyes on the road, cap pulled low in an attempt at anonymity that only made him more recognisable in her mind.
His hand was placed on her thigh as she glanced out the window, a small breath leaving her lips.
"You're overthinking this." Lando announced.
"I'm not." Marnie retorted immediately.
Lando smiled softly. "You are."
Marnie exhaled, leaning her head back against her seat. "It's your birthday. Aren't people gonna notice that you're not out partying or something?"
"They notice everything anyway." Lando spoke lightly. "That doesn't mean we stop living. Plus, maybe they'll just think I'm growing."
"Hmm." Marnie hummed, a teasing smile making its way onto her lips as she turned to him. "Lando Norris, mature... maybe."
"Okay." Lando rolled his eyes, but the smile never left his face.
Lando pulled up outside a small restaurant tucked into a side street, warm light spilling out onto the pavement. No flashing signs. No photographers waiting. Just the kind of place that survived on being forgotten by the algorithm.
