Naomi

This morning, the doctors let me go home. I was in the midst of packing up my things when the door to my hospital room opened. My eyes bulge out of my head when I see who it is.

"Eve?"

"In the flesh!"

We both scream and hug each other. Eve was my roommate in college up until I got a place with Derrick, my ex. We lost touch with each other after I had Amar, mostly because I moved back home. I'm just happy she's here.

"How did you know I was here?" I ask.

"Girl, I still keep in touch with your fine ass brother Jason. He told me where I could find you. How have you been, baby girl?" She asks.

"I've been good. Just taking it day by day."

"That's good. How's Amar?"

"Grown as he can be, but he's still your little sweetheart."

"I can't wait to see him again," she says, smiling at me.

She looks down at my stomach and looks back up with me.

"Damn girl, what have you been eating. This isn't the skinny mini Naomi I know."

"That's because I'm pregnant goof," I say laughing at her.

"Damn boo, I guess your man can't keep his hands off you," Eve says, feeling my stomach.

"I guess you could say that," I say, turning back to my clothes.

"Mi-Mi, Malik has the car-" Mel comes in to say but quickly gets cut off by the person in front of her.

I know Melani doesn't like Eve. She didn't like her in college. I never understood why, but Mel always said that she could smell her fake ways by the fake perfume Eve wears, but I just laughed it off.

"Hey, Melody!" Eve says, going to hug her.

"It's Melani, trick," Melani says, pushing past her.

"Um Melon, don't call me out of my name when I have done nothing to you."

"Bitch it's Melani, and you have done something to me chicken head."

"And what is that?" Eve asks.

"You came back into Naomi's life when you ain't shit but a fake ass friend who is out to ruin Naomi's happiness. You've been like that since college."

"Girl, please. If anything, you are the one trying to ruin shit. I just came to see my loving friend Naomi."

"Whatever silly rabbit. Just remember that tricks are for kids," Melani says, grabbing the bag that has my clothes. "Mi-Mi, I'll be in the car."

Mel brushes up against Eve's shoulder and walks out. I shake my head at them both and walk out of the room. I look up and see a person that I never wanted to see for the life of me that I had left. Derrick. 

"Hey baby," Eve says, going to kiss him.

Baby?! Did she just call him baby?!

Eve turns to me with a big smile on her face, but her face drops at my expression.

"Naomi, what's wrong?"

"Yea. You good?" Derrick asks.

I wish I could slap the dog shit out of him and her. I know she knows damn well what's wrong.

"Yea I'm good. Well, I gotta go."

"Okay. Bye, Naomi," Eve says, holding her arms out.

"Bye." 

I walk past here and out the door, leaving her to look stupid. I get in the passenger seat of Malik's car and slam the door.

"Damn! Are you okay?" Malik and Melani ask.

I turn around to make sure Amar wasn't awake to hear what I was going to say.

"That bitch is with Derrick."

Malik just shook his head, and Mel was already out of the car door.

"Malik, please go get Melani."

I could already hear Melani and Eve going back and forth. Malik gets out of the car, and I put my head in my hands. I don't give a fuck about them dating. I just can't deal with the fact that Eve did that shady shit.
