Everything was going great for about two weeks. I counted two weeks before bullshit started to hit us again. Trey has been calling Naomi non-stop to convince the nurses and therapists at the psych ward to let him go, but everybody knows that dude has some issues. He even asked me, but of course, I said hell no! Amar's birthday party is today and I don't want the bullshit to interfere with him having fun. Jason, Ty, and I are riding to pick up Amar's cake while Mi-Mi, Layla, and Mel are at home greeting and getting the kids settled in the backyard.
"Isn't that the cake shop over there?" Ty, the back seat driver, asks pointing on the right side of the street.
"What's the name of it?" I ask.
"Uh, Oooey Gooey Bakery," Jason says.
"Yup. That's it," I say turning into the parking lot.
We get out of the car, and I lock the doors. We walk into the shop and see nothing but women all around us.
"This is the same feeling I get when I buy woman products for Mel," Ty says, shuddering a little.
We walk up to the register, and I ring the bell.
"Hi, welcome to Oooey Gooey Bakery! My name is Bethany. What kind I get for you handsome gentlemen?"
"I'm here to pick up a cake," I say.
"No shit Sherlock," Jason says.
"What's the name on the cake order, sir?"
"Naomi Reynolds."
She types away on her computer.
"Okay. I'll be right out with your birthday cake."
She walks to the back and shouts orders at the staff.
"She looks and acts like she's on some good shit," Jason says.
"That or she might have a sugar rush," Ty says back.
"Nah, that's straight crack," Jason says little too loudly.
I elbow him and shake my head. Bethany comes back holding a big white box.
"Do you want to check the cake, sir?"
"Sure."
She lifts the top and it's perfect. Not one flaw.
"Okay. How much?" I ask.
"Oh, it's already been paid for," she says.
"What? By who?" I ask.
"Naomi Reynolds sir. She paid for the cake by giving me her credit card information over the phone."
"Oh okay. Well, thank you anyway, Bethany. Have a good day," I say picking up the cake box.
"Have a good day gentlemen."
