There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love. -- Bryant H. McGill
Saturday was a dreary day too. It was raining and the clouds made it appear like it was five at night just after the sun had set, the wind was freezing and nippy causing you instantly to shrivel up into a ball and cry in protest.
My weekend was empty and it was cold and lonesome at home with James busy, so with nothing else left to do I walked to work. I wasn’t working though; I wasn’t shifted on this weekend out of a friendly gesture towards me with all that was going on. Instead I bought with me a book, my history essay and in black skinny jeans, a t-shirt I’d usually wear to work and a nice pretty scarf with some snug boots I curled up in the back corner of the shop. I was by the fire in a booth by the window watching the flame lick at the wood as I snuggled deeper pulling my feet up on the seat with me.
Mel walked over smiling she was working flat out yet she stood tall and slender, her deep black hair in a messy bun that curled and spiraled in all the right places. She pulled a loose curl from her eye “Any drama today?”She asked teasingly, yet I knew there was also worry and comfort behind the tone.
“Nope.” I said popping the ‘p’ showing my pleasure but also in a way disappointment as her question bought back a reminder of what had been going on in my crazy world.
Mel nodded pulling out her notepad. That was the best thing about Mel, she didn’t press or ask, she knew very little of my breakdowns yet she supported and comforted me one hundred percent. “Whataya want girlie?”
I smiled faintly “A hot chocolate please.”
Moments later she showed up pulling me out of my book (I’d already given up on that essay) “Chocie cake on the house.” She said warmly sitting a slice down in front of me on the table.
My stomach grumbled making me laugh “Tah.” I said smiling brightly, that small gesture meaning the world to me.
She nodded her eyes falling on the book in my hand a knowing smile coming onto my face as she said with a smirk “Another one?”She asked amazed yet mockingly. I just nodded. “So does Romeo and Juliet get together?” she asked referring to my latest romance book.
I just smiled “I'll let you know.”

Hours passed and my hot chocolate had been refilled more than twice. Mel came over and asked the same question every time.
So when I sense someone walk up to my booth, blocking the dim lights from my face I said laughing in exasperation “No they still haven’t got together yet Mel.” I said chuckling softly as I still kept my gaze down on my page.
“Hey.” Was all they said, it was a soft and cautious tone that held so many levels of emotions I couldn’t keep up.
Instantly I blushed, my body warming and my shoulders tensing with embarrassment. Hastily with trembling hands I closed the book, pushing it aside I glanced up muddled and nervous.
“Can I?” he asked gesturing to the booth.
I just stared at him, my heart in a sprint, butterflies and my face instantly warm. “Uh,” is all I managed harshly, clearing my dry throat. “Sure.” His face relaxed instantly. Trembling with jitters I stood up “I'll just, uh, get these.” I tumbled out picking up my cups and plate. Quickly I slid out and made my way to the counter.
“Give me that.” Mel said with exasperations yet I could see the slightest bit of amusement. I handed it to her in defeat “Go.” She said chuckling softly as she pushed me back to the booth as Luke glanced up.
