Saving Him

Chapter 10

"Hey, wake up." Someone shook my shoulder lightly.

"Hmm.." I grumbled.

"You gotta get up Casey."

I opened one eye to see who was talking to me this early in the morning. I couldn't see the persons face so I sat up.

"Who are you?" I questioned tiredly.

"It's Ryder." He chuckled. Now that I think about it, it does sound like him.

"What time is it?"

"Eleven."

"In the morning?" Now I was fully awake. But I looked at the window only to see it be night. "Oh, it's still night."

"Yeah. You fell asleep halfway through the movie, and now it's over. Colton and Mason left about ten minutes ago. I would have woken you up sooner, but thought you should sleep."

"Thanks." I smiled.

Ryder pulled me into a hug, and leant backwards. So I pretty much laid down on him. My head laid on his chest. I could hear his soothing heart beat. I closed my eyes again just to quickly fall back asleep.

"What the heck is going on in here!" Someone screamed waking me up. I was pushed off, and my butt hit the floor.

"Ow." I mumbled.

I looked up to where I previously was, and that was on the couch with Ryder. I looked at the person whom I guessing yelled.

"Oh, uh, hi mom." That's Ryder's mom?

"Would you care to explain why she was laying on you, on my couch?" Her folded her arms across her chest.

"Mom, this is my girlfriend, Casey. But you see Colton, Mason, Casey, and I were all watching the lion king. Once it ended the boys left and Casey was asleep. After I woke her up we both kinda fell asleep on the couch. I promise we didn't do anything."

"She's your girlfriend?" She emphasized girlfriend.

Wait. Ryder said I'm his girlfriend? He never asked me to be..

"Yes mom." He huffed.

"What, are you going to date her then have a one night stand?"

"Mom!" Ryder yelled. "That was the old me. I'm not like that anymore! I actually care about Casey! She has changed me. I- I love her."

Ryder stumbled on the last part. Ryder loves me? Okay I'm sitting here dumbfounded by this. Since when did me and him start dating. And since when did he love me? We just kissed yesterday, and I spent the night here.

Ryder headed upstairs, leaving me behind on the ground. His mother looked at me, and I swear if looks could kill, I'd be dead.

"You look like a girl that Ryder shouldn't be with. You look like you get into trouble yourself."

My jaw dropped open and she walked away. Okay what did I do to this lady?

After another minute I pushed myself up from the ground, and headed to the door. I opened the door and walked out. I can't stay here any longer. What Ryder said won't get out of my mind, and also what his mom just said.

You look like a girl Ryder shouldn't be with.

Wow.. I walked down the street watching Cars pass by me.

My phone started ringing.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Where are you?" It's Ryder's voice.

"Walking home."

"Why? No, wait where you are."

"Why?" I questioned.

"I'm coming with you."

"Fine, bye."

Hanging up the phone and shoved it in my pocket. It only took two minutes before Ryder caught up with me.

"Why did you leave?" He took my hand in his and we started walking.

"I'm just confused Ryder. That's it. First you, then your mom."

"What about my mom?" He asked.

"She said I'm the type of girl that should be with you and that I look like I get in trouble all the time."

"My mom never likes any girls I bring home, or date."

"Why?"

"Normally I do have one night stands with them, but I won't with you. Your different. If I really wanted to I would have done it last night, but I didn't."

"Why didn't you? After me, you can just get another girl. One better than me, prettier, smarter, and maybe she'll be better, and you'll marry her."

"Casey, where did that just come from?" He stopped me dead in my tracks and made me look at him.

"It's true. I'm not perfect, skinny, or beautiful. Girls you've had before are way better than me, ad they'll always be."

"What made you get yourself so down?" He had the hurt look in his eyes.

"Your mom." I whispered hoping he wouldn't hear, but he did.

He pulled me into a hug and I started to cry. His shirt slowly got wet from my tears. He placed his head in the crook of my neck, and rubbed my back.

"Shh.. Everything's okay baby. Your beautiful, amazing, and I'm the luckiest person on earth right now. And that's because I have you."

I pulled out of the hug and looked at him in the eyes. His eyes were a little red and puffy.

He leaned down slowly and pressed his lips to mine. It wasn't much, but just enough to make me feel better.

"When I told my mom that you are my girlfriend, it's because I want you to be." He broke the silence.

I smiled up at him.

"Just ask."

"Casey. Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes, yes I will Ryder."

I hugged me again, but a lot tighter. I did too.

"One question." I told him.

"What's that?"

"What about when you said that you love me?"

"Oh, um." He rubbed the back of his neck, and looked at the ground. I could tell he didn't want to say anything.

"Because.. I do. I love you Casey. I know you just became my girlfriend, but since I've known you so far, I've felt like I've known you forever. I've told you stuff no one knows, and I do that because I trust you. You mean a lot to me, and I'm honestly scared that I'll loose you. That's why when I went upstairs cause my mom, I was hoping you would have followed because I knew she would say something like that. She always does. That's how she runs girls away from me. Ever since My dad left, she thinks I'll be like him and leave all the girls I get. But she doesn't realize I'm not like that. Especially when it comes to you. Your more important to me than anyone in this world. If I could have any girl I wanted, I'm glad it's you I chose."

I stood there speechless. I honestly don't know what to say.

But that's when I found the perfect moment to tell him my confession.

"I love you Ryder."
