Jenna's POV:
A letter from the DWTS producers came in the mail. This Would tell me whether I'm a pro, in the troupe, or have been asked not to join. I nervously opened it and took out the letter. My hand was shaking. Right as I was about to open it, Val called.
"Hello?"
"Hey, babe, did your letter come?"
"Yep."
"Did you open it?"
"No, just about to look at it. You're a pro again, for sure right?"
"Yeah."
I opened the letter and scanned it. This was the moment of truth.
"Babe?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, what does it say?" He asked nervously.
"I'm not a pro."
"Oh baby girl, I'm so sorry. You're on the troupe right?"
"Yeah," I said trying to keep my voice from cracking.
"How about I come over?"
"Um no I wanna be alone."
"Baby."
"Val."
He hung up, and I set my phone down. Ugh again?! Why? Am I not good enough? I mean, I understand the others are amazing, and Karina is a fan favorite, but what about me? I let a tear slip down my cheek. I heard a knock at the door. Val.
"Babe, go home!" I yelled.
"No!"
"I'm not letting you in!"
"Fine!"
A few minutes later I heard a big grunt come from my dance studio. I walked in and turned the light on.
"Val?" He had climbed through the window.
"Hey."
"Babe."
"You wouldn't let me in, so this was my only option."
"No, your other option would be to go home."
"That's no fun."
"I'm no fun," I mumbled quietly to myself.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Come with me," he said grabbing my hand and dragging me out to the car.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see."
Ugggh. He knows I hate surprises, if I know there's gonna be one. We pulled up to a little animal shelter.
"V, what're we doing here?"
"Well since you aren't a pro, you will have more time on your hands."
"So?"
"So, I'm buying you a puppy. I know you aren't a cat person."
"Omg I love you so much thank you!"
"I love you too Jitterbug," he kissed my head and I giggled.
"Really? Bringing that name back again?"
"It's cute!"
"Whatever you say," I said pulling him inside.
"Hello how may I help you?" The lady at the desk said.
"We would like to adopt a puppy," Val told her.
"Awesome, right this way." She led us to a room with windows, where all the puppies sat.
"Feel free to look for a bit. If you'd like to hold one, just tell me," she said cheerfully.
"Val, this one looks like Sir Sleep!" I said pointing to an English Bulldog.
He was looking at a different one. I walked over next to him. He was watching a little dachshund (wiener dog). She had dark brown fur, with caramel colored markings.
"Awe Val! She's so cute! And itty bitty."
"I like its eyes. There blue. Just like yours."
"Val, all you ever do is talk about my eyes, is that really the only reason you like this one?"
"Not just that. She kind of reminds me of you. Happy and goofy when she wants, and calm and mellow when it's time to be. And of course cute all the time." I blushed.
"I think we'll take her," I told the lady.
"Ah a miniature dachshund. Great choice! I'll need you to fill out some forms."
Val did the paperwork while the puppy sat in my lap. She was so cute, with her long little snout and big eyes.
"J, what do you want to name her?"
"Um...I don't know. Anything you like?"
"I think Snickers sounds cute, but I don't know."
"Awe Val, that's adorable! Yes let's go with that."
We drove to my house, and I kept the puppy in my lap. I had stuff from my old dog, so we didn't need to go shopping.
"Babe, wanna watch TV?" He asked sitting down.
"Modern Family!"
"Ok," he said turning on the television. I put the puppy on the floor and sat next to him. We watches for a while and I was half asleep. I woke up a few minutes later, and saw Snickers cuddled up to Val, who was asleep. I took a picture of them, and captioned it,
'See people, Valentin Chmerkovskiy can have a soft side ;)'
His phone went off, and
