Scott's POV:
"They must be on their way. I can hear their footsteps. Everything's ready? I hope so at least." I was trying to focus on the upcoming council meeting. I didn't want to think about what it could bring..a war between us and the humans..I didn't want that. Kate needs to die, its for the good of both the kinds, I kept repeating to myself.I went downstairs, they had arrived, the hall was full of black hooded figures, all of my kind.
Hoods were raised and heads bowed low as I and my father made our way towards the front of our hall.
Father started speaking to the council. "A hearty welcome to all my dear brothers and sisters, we all are aware of the reason for this sudden meeting. I request your forgiveness for my son, who got us into the midst of this situation." The crowd murmured. Father continued.
"Then again all of you being my guests, deserve our best welcome. So, after the meeting is over, a feast has been arranged for all. Now, request you all to head for the gathering room, where our meeting will take place."
I followed the crowd towards the gathering room. In the room was a huge table, with several chairs around it. I sat down opposite to my father. Father motioned for the meeting to begin.
"I Irick Vargas, head of the council committee request our king to give the human a death sentence." Irick sat down. He was man who new perfectly well, how to gain importance. Others started voicing their views after Irick was done.
I was surprised to find out that in the council there few ladies n men who found it unfair to kill Kate.
"Your highness..I do not think that the human is at any such fault where she needs to be sentenced to death."
"So, we should sit back and wait till she goes to her world and exposes our world. Should we??"
"Humans are not trustable...my Lord....we have already experienced the consequences of trusting the humans..long back if, you remember.." Irick smirked at his own comment.
"We could simply turn her..and keep her as a slave..can't we??"
"Seems like some of us our dieng to taste human blood again...aren't we??"
"What if the girl doesn't want to be turned...we can't force her.."
It was enough for me. Four long hours and we were still nowhere near the decision, moreover I knew how she would be treated if she was enslaved. She would be used to satisfy there thirst and lust...and that, wasn't going to happen.
"I suppose...we are wasting our time discussing this issue..she should be killed..there's no other way around this." I finished and as soon as I did, I regretted it.
All the heads in the room, turned around, so did mine, all facing a pale fragile looking figure.
"Kathy..you should have been upstairs in your room.." Kasper spoke to her, a tone of guilt clear in his voice.
"Why punish me? Where am I at fault? It was your hier who let your secret out. Punish him. But then again, you people can still kill me, that might quench your thirst." She threw a sarcastic smile in my direction.
"Lailah...take her back to her room." Father commanded.
"No!...don't you touch me. Our king always does justice.. Right?
Then why kill me instead of your son..huh?" Her lips trembled while she shook with anger."Calm down girl. I promise you justice. You won't be killed, its my word. The meeting is adjourned for the day."
"Oh yeah? Well, is that how I get justice? No!, that's just not done for the day." She turned her head towards me, and for a split second it felt as if the rest of the world had stopped. She stared at me and I know I saw betrayal in her eyes. Did my words hurt her like a betrayal? No, it couldn't be.
She strode towards me...her mouth opened and closed, twice.
"Yes? Seems like this fragile creature has got more to spit at us." I spoke in a cold tone.
"Kill me." She breathed slowly.
"What!?" I tried to cover up the shock in my voice.
"Kill me." She repeated.
"Why do you want to be killed girl?" My father demanded.
"Not just killed, killed by him." She commanded. Her eyes shone nothing but cold as ice, I was suddenly regretting every insult that I had thrown at her.
"I won't dirty my lips with your blood. You filthy weak human."
She said nothing. Her hands fumbled in her pockets for a second, and she brought out a pocket knife.
My face started turning pale as I realised that she knew my weakness. Her blood.
"No!" I heard lialah scream as Kate drove the small knife into her flesh and out again. My mind was going blank with the smell of her blood, I couldn't hold it long.
Before I realised it, I was sucking her blood through her wrist. Her painful scream filling my ears.
Several hands were trying to pull me away. They didn't know that I couldn't stop. I was a rouge. No one could stop me right now.
A low whisper escaped her lips as she beared the pain. "What was my fault?"
I pulled away.
To my astonishment I really did pull away between a meal. This had happened for the first time in all my vampire life.
Leaving her down on the floor, I walked out of the meeting room.
